  1. amiller: Hey, Thank you so much for giving this a listen, and also for your very kind words!πŸ˜€ I also really enjoyed your new track, "Lift Me Up", fantastic instrumental, really good stuff!πŸ‘ Also, thanks for checking out the "Frenzy" video, too, and I really appreciate your wife's Def Leppard comparison! My cover bands did a ton of Def Leppard songs throughout the years, starting right from the first album with "Let It Go" and "Bringin' on the Heartbreak", and then right up to the late 90's.πŸ˜€ Thanks again for checking this out and commenting, greatly appreciated! Have a good one, Bob
  2. ChernobylStudios: Hi, Scott, Big thanks, brother, I truly appreciate you giving this a listen, and also your well detailed input and suggestions!πŸ˜€ I just uploaded a new mix, and as per your suggestion, I re-eqed and lowered the bass a bit, and I fixed up the timing of the extra guitar entry to the second verse. I also beefed up the drums for a little more punch. You've got some really killer black metal/death metal mixes on your Soundcloud page, I really liked the Brootal Beefecake track, cool stuff, my friend!πŸ€˜πŸ‘ Thanks again for checking this out and have a good one! Bob
  3. Chuck E Baby: Hey, Charlie, How's it going, bro? Hope you're having a kick-butt weekend! Thanks, man, I really appreciate your input, opinion and insights on my stuff, especially because we have very similar styles and taste in music!😁 I'm hoping to get the changes made to this one and have the final mix up within the next couple of days. As per your suggestion, I plan to punch up the drums for a little more smack, touch up the bass EQ a bit more, and finally fix the timing of that little guitar part in the second verse. Yes, Sir, you're right about those PA bands, all faves of mine. The brand new HS video for "Vicious" is pretty cool. This is actually BB's home town and I've seen them here four times in the past couple of years. The first version of BB actually played with my band a couple times. Who knew two years later they'd get a contract and hit the major leagues, amazing! Thanks again, Charlie, appreciate your good input and support!πŸ‘ Have a good one! Bob

    Lift Me Up

Hi, This is a spectacular sounding instrumental!πŸ˜€ Great guitar tones and fantastic, tasty playing with tons of smooth, memorable melodies to keep things interesting. I really loved the harmony guitar parts, they sort of reminded me of early Allman Brothers stuff, and the bass and drums sounded perfect. This is a nice crystal clear and wide, modern sounding mix, with lots of energy, that sounds right on the money for the song style. Excellent work, great stuff!πŸ‘ Have a great weekend! Bob
  5. Abull: Hey, Allan, Thank you, Sir, I really appreciate you giving this a listen for me, and also your good input, observations and encouraging comments!😊 Greatly appreciated, buddy, and I'm looking forward to your next new one, as well!πŸ‘ Have a good one! Bob
  6. emeraldsoul: Hi, Tom, How are you, buddy? Hope you're having a great week!😊 Big thanks for lending your always good ears to this for me, and for your kind comments and good observations! I always look forward to your input on my stuff because your posts are always top notch! Yes, Sir, I've still got to touch up the timing on that little guitar part where it enters the second verse, it's still just slightly off at the beginning. I'm still not sure if I may have added a little too much low end to the bass for this second mix, I'm hoping get some time to touch this one up by the weekend. Thanks again for checking it out for me, greatly appreciated! Oh, by the way your new post "Dusseldorf to Dar Es Salaam" was really cool, good stuff!πŸ‘ Have a good one, Tom! Bob
  7. Cookie Jarvis: Hey, Bill, Thanks so much for checking this one out for me and for your input, observations and very kind words of encouragement! I greatly appreciate you giving this a listen and commenting.πŸ˜€ Your latest post, "Transmission", was really cool with lots of interesting elements. Really good stuff, Bill, looking forward to hearing more!πŸ‘ Have a great weekend! Bob
  8. Freddy J: Hey, Freddy, How are you, buddy? Hope things are great in sunny Florida!πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for checking this new one out for me, and for your input, observations, and very kind words, greatly appreciated!πŸ‘ I think it's getting closer, but I may need to still slightly adjust the entrance timing of that little guitar part at the beginning of the second verse. LOL, it drives me nuts, with a little nudge here, a little nudge there, and before you know it, it's worse than it was, and it's time to "Undo" and start over! Hopefully, sooner or later, I'll be like Goldilocks and it'll be "just right"!😁 Thanks again, Freddy, and have a great weekend! Bob
  9. Hey, Wook, This is a little different than your usual stuff, but it's a pretty cool sounding short orchestral piece!😊 I don't know much about creating this style of music, but I actually think the samples sound authentic, and the articulation sounds pretty much in the ball park compared to many other libraries that I've heard. I'd say this is a pretty cool experiment and Notion may have a lot to offer. Although, LOL, maybe you should change the name to "Just a Minuet and Eleven Seconds"!😁 Either way, great start, hope to hear some more of this when you dive in deeper to Notion!πŸ‘ Have a great day, John! Sonic Sludge

Hey, Ken, How are you, buddy? Hope you're doing great!😊 This is a really cool "spacey" sounding jam with lots of really nice flowing sonic textures, great guitar playing and excellent drumming! Your son is a great drummer, and it sounds like you both had a blast putting this jam together. I think it's definitely worth adding the bass to fill it out a bit more and add a little more rhythmic punch. I also really liked "Travelers" further down on your RN page. Lots of really tasty guitar melodies, and perfect tone for the style of song, cool synths, and excellent bass and drums. Really good stuff!πŸ‘ Have a good one, Ken! Bob
  11. Wookiee: Hey, Wook, How are you, buddy? Hope you're doing great!😊 Big thanks, my friend, I really appreciate your furry ears, always good input and very kind words of encouragement! As I mentioned above to our buddy, Bats, I think it might be the full on energy of the mix with no quieter parts that's making it seem louder than it really is. The Har-Bal and Ozone analyzers are showing the Wav file to be right around the same level as my usual output for the past few years, unless maybe Soundclick's new MP3 processing is messing with the levels somehow. John, thanks again, I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input, ideas, and observations on my stuff, and it truly means a great deal to me!😊 Have a good one, Wook! Bob
  12. batsbrew: Hey, Rob, It's really great to hear from you, brother! Big thanks for checking this out for me and also for your always helpful, detailed input and kind words!😊 As per you observations, I touched up the timing of the plucked guitars at the beginning of the second verse with a slight forward nudge, I'm hoping it's synching a little better, but I think I may have to move things around a bit more. As for the mix being a bit hot, I'm not so sure, unless maybe Soundclick is messing with it. Har-Bal's analyzer is showing 13 dB of overall dynamic range in the Wav file that I made the MP3 from, and Ozone's real-time live master limiter is bouncing between 8 and 13dB and showing a ton of headroom before getting close to peaking. Weird, although it might just be the overall high energy of the mix, without any quieter parts in the song. I always shoot for between 12 and 14 dB of dynamic range in all my final mixes because for the last few years all the major streaming services adjust the loudness to their own standards. Anyway, thanks again for the great input and suggestions, I really appreciate it because your stuff is always dynamite!πŸ‘ Have a good one, Bats! Bob
  13. Wow, Craig! LOL, That's like a Chevy and a Ford welded together! Or, Jekyll and Hyde as Siamese twins!😁 Have a good one, buddy! Bob
  14. Hey, Bill, Lookin' good, buddy, nice addition to that fine collection! I'm glad you love that beauty, enjoy!πŸ‘ I still have my 1971 Les Paul Deluxe with a Gibson factory custom neck, it's a little beaten down and scarred up after being my main guitar for most of my life, but it still plays like a champ. I'm actually in the process of restoring it and going to have it refinished. Last summer I actually bought a new bridge, bridge pickup, set of locking tuners, jack plate, switch plate and control knobs. LOL, all I need now is the actual time to work on it and get it custom painted. It breaks my heart to see it sitting in the case with half the parts removed! Hopefully this summer I'll "Git 'er Done"!😁 Have a blast, Bill, and crank it up for the neighbors!😁 Bob
  15. Johnbee58: Hi, John, How are you, my friend? Hope you're doing great! Thanks so much for giving this new one a listen for me, and for your very kind words of encouragement! I greatly appreciate your input and observations, and it's nice to have another fellow Pennsylvania musician here on the new forum! A few of my bands made the 2 hour trip and played in your town quite a few times back in the 80's, good times! Thanks again, John, and have a great week! Bob
  16. Hi, Guys, I just uploaded Mix#2 after hearing your comments and suggestions!πŸ‘ I beefed up the low end on the bass with just a touch of EQ and bumped the bass volume up about 1 dB. I also touched up the timing of the plucked guitar that comes in on the right side at the beginning of the second verse, which I think helped with the slightly awkward transition to the second verse that Batsbrew mentioned. I'm just hoping that I didn't swamp the low end after the very slight bass changes, please let me know what you think if you see this. Thanks again to everybody for your input, observations and suggestions, it truly means the world to me to hear from you guys!πŸ˜€ Have a good one! Bob
  17. Hi, Bill, This is a really great start to a very cool progressive instrumental!πŸ‘ The keyboard and synth work are outstanding, the guitars are really nice, although, I would bring the distorted guitar a little bit more forward in the mix to get it closer to the clean chords that drive most of the song. The sound effects at the end were a cool little element to match up with the theme of the song title.πŸ˜€ I'm on my third listen. The bass sounds nice throughout, and the piano outro is absolutely fantastic! I know you mentioned that the drums aren't finished yet, but when they are, I would bring the volume up quite a bit, to just below the clean guitar level, and then bring the bass up into the same ball park. Excellent stuff, Bill, can't wait to hear the finished product!☺️ Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Bob

    The London Way

Hi, Steve, This is an absolutely beautiful acoustic ballad, really phenomenal!πŸ‘ Excellent writing, lyrics and arrangement, perfect instrumentation, outstanding vocals, and the mix sounds fantastic! This sort of reminds me of a cool fusion of Harry Chapin and early Cat Stevens storytelling ballads, but with a modern production style. You have an amazing talent for these classy, heartfelt ballads, and the material and production just seems to get better and better every one I hear.πŸ˜€ Excellent work, Steve, keep 'em coming, my friend! Bob
  19. Hey, Tom, This is a little different from your usual stuff, but it's a really cool fusion of a couple of different genres rolled up into a pretty wild piece of music!πŸ˜€ I really like the synth work and sounds used, the way it builds up elements from the intro was great, and when the piano melody kicks in it sounds amazing. I also like the changing guitar sounds from acoustic to power to the bouncy clean section with the synth background. The sound effects were a nifty way to really keep things interesting as the song progressed. What piano did you use on this, it sounds great? I'm on my second listen. The mix sounds crystal clear, punchy and nice and wide on my system, and pretty much right on the money for Electronic. Very interesting and cool stuff, brother, excellent work!πŸ‘ Have a good one! Bob
  20. Hey, Bill, Congratulations, buddy, can't wait to see the pic of the new axe! As Tom Petty said, "The Waiting is the Hardest Part"!πŸ˜€ Hang in there for the full 24 hours just to play it safe!πŸ‘ Have a good one! Bob
  21. Bjornpdx: Hi, Bjorn, It's great to hear from you, hope you had a great time on your trip to Uganda!😊 Thank you very much for checking this out for me, and also for your very kind comments! I truly appreciate your input and observations on my stuff. I actually believe it's really helpful to get input from people who don't normally listen to the particular genre, because it provides a fresh, different perspective which I think is always useful. By the way, great job on your recent collab with Lynn, really cool song!πŸ‘ Thanks again, Bjorn, and have a great weekend! Bob
  22. Byron Dickens: Hi, Byron, Thanks for giving this a listen and for your encouraging comments, I truly appreciate you taking time to check it out for me!πŸ˜€ Yes, Sir, been a fan of AIC since the Layne Staley days, they were one of the first "post 80's" bands that I actually liked. By the way, your new orchestral post was really well done, great stuff, buddy!πŸ‘ Thanks again, Byron, have a great weekend! Bob
  23. Hi, Lynn, This is a really cool smooth rocker, well written and great lyrics, and the vocals and harmonies are outstanding as always!πŸ‘ Great keyboard and synth work, Roger did a fantastic job on the bass, and the sound of the drums is really good. The dense mix sounds loud, clear and well balanced. The only thing that distracted me a little was the rapidly closing hi-hat that seems panned about 50% right, and then switches to 50% left later in the song. I'm guessing that you might be using it more as an additional synth type percussion effect in the mix, hence the panning movement, but to me, it seems like it's sticking out a bit too much and should be pulled back a few dBs to blend with the rest of the drum set. Of course, that's just my subjective opinion, and the song sounds great as is! Really good stuff, Lynn, it's always great to hear a new one from you!πŸ˜€ Have a great weekend! Bob
  24. Hey, Byron, This is a really beautiful cinematic composition with lots of cool twists and turns and a really well textured soundscape!πŸ˜€ The orchestration is very detailed and really well done, and Miroslav sounds genuinely authentic. The mix is crystal clear, wide and panoramic. Excellent work, Byron, I could easily imagine hearing this as a soundtrack to a dramatic film!πŸ‘ Great stuff! Have a good one! Bob
  25. garybrun: Hi, Gary, No problem, my friend! We think alike and I agree with you 100%.πŸ‘ If people here share how they approach fixing problems in a mix, and share their techniques and tips used in recording and mixing, everyone can learn and benefit from it. The old Songs Forum and Techniques forum was always a fantastic place to learn and improve recording and mixing skills, and it looks like activity is starting to really pick up here, so I think people will start to feel more comfortable here and do the same. The old Cakewalk forum was a fantastic community of very knowledgeable, helpful people who were always willing to offer ideas and suggestions, and many have made it over here now, so, I believe things are looking up!πŸ˜€ Thanks again, Gary, have a great day! Bob
