Everything works great, and then a Windows or something update. Cakewalk Bandlab folks can't be expected to keep up but they do an amazing job. The good people on the forum here have helped me many times, though can only troubleshoot so much. Windows etc will do more updates to fix previous update problems. And bring new problems for everyone. Rinse and repeat. It's all as regular as the tides! But Cakewalk 2003 worked fine for me on a basic laptop in its day, and hoping things get better with all the horsepower, teamwork and knowledge we have today!

Same problems, similar set up and gear... Frustrating!

In the metronome settings, you could check where the audio output is routed to. I've found it once set to None. And another time, sent to a bus I used as a FX send, that at the time was muted for recording.

Yes - many times myself the export comes out not what was chosen based on what Jezric is saying. It is like the export dialogue box selections do not consistently override what is going on in track view such as selections.

I will sing to a melody played first on piano. Especially for harmonies. But find it makes sense to just later solo the two tracks and make small Melodyne corrections to the sung notes later. I would wonder having Melodyne take a vocal and match it to another track might not sound organic enough. For me, anyway.

Thank you for the plug-in flushing setting change. I was also getting surprise crashes when freezing midi tracks - in addition to exporting. Setting it to zero fixed that, both.

This might be different than what the original poster was getting at, but in case it's not: I recently wanted to see if it were possible to do a region FX Melodyne pitch correction to a number of tracks at once. These were background vocal choir parts, which would be very low in the mix - so precision tuning not required, and the parts were sung well anyway. Instead of going individually through 12 tracks of a six-minute song... to pitch correct them all in one batch.

I could be wrong about this being an explanation but perhaps the "R" button for Read Automation is off. That turns off envelopes. Maybe that includes Clip Gain, too. I've been trying to sort this out, too.

I have gotten decent results with the SI Bass Guitar, too. It does take tweaking in the plug in itself, or I have found the bass sound can take over a mix. Usually that has meant dialing off some bass and dialing up some mids, treble.

I have been using Cakewalk since 2003 and they had a CD burning program for music I liked, too - Pyro. I am sure every Cakewalk and now Bandlab user is well used to people replying, "Huh? What's that?," when you tell them what DAW you use. It's rare to meet a fellow user in real life, in my experience!

I plug in direct to my Focusrite 6i6, with the Boss GT-1 effects processor, with the preset or modification I did of that. Also, always disabling reverb, to add that later when mixing.

In Track View, change the drop down from clip to the automation you wish to adjust. Click on the track's number, the square box, it changes colour and then the whole track is selected. With the Move tool instead of Smart Tool, you can click/drag the entire envelope. Or with the Smart Tool, hold control down while click/dragging the envelope. I prefer to send the track to a bus, and simply increase/decrease the fader there on this bus, which then goes to the master bus.

You could select the entire envelope, then raise or lower it a bit. You could send the track to a bus and adjust the volume there.

How about maybe yes maybe no - depends on what you're seeking, sonically. I tend to find if I have to do a whole bunch of EQ moves I didn't record very well to begin with.

I can confirm the same longstanding issue. I think Sound Centre is just old? For composing it is annoying. Freezing the track later silences the clicking.

Starting again by reinstalling Cakewalk Bandlab worked for me. Thanks to each of you for the help. Here is what I got from Cakewalk Support, quite quickly, too! ------------------ To completely remove Cakewalk by BandLab from your computer and reinstall it, follow the steps below. Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk by BandLab. You can back these up separately if you like, using Utilities menu > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, Edit > Preferences > Customization – Keyboard Shortcuts and Edit > Preferences > Customization – Colors. 1) Uninstall Cakewalk by BandLab. This is normally done within the BandLab Assistant app. Go to BandLab Assistant > Apps > Cakewalk by BandLab, click on the arrow on the right side of the tab and select Uninstall. This will not remove any of your plug-ins, project files or audio data. 2) After the uninstallation completes, open the Run Prompt. In Windows 7, 8, and 10, open the Run Prompt by holding down the “Windows” key and pressing “R” on the keyboard. 3) At the Prompt, type regedit and click [OK]. 4) Click [Yes] if asked to allow the program to make changes to your computer. Important: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export Registry File window that comes up, make sure “Export range” is set to “All” and that “Save as type” is set to “Registration Files (*.reg)”. It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You must re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer. 5) Delete the following Registry keys: If you do not have one of the Registry keys below, simply proceed to the next one on the list. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core 6) Open the Run Prompt again. 7) Copy and paste %appdata%\Cakewalk into the prompt and click [OK]. On Windows 7, 8, and 10, the “AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk” folder will open. 😎 Right-click on the Cakewalk Core folder and choose “Delete.” 9) Delete the contents of the following directory: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core 10) At this point, you can reinstall Cakewalk by BandLab from BandLab Assistant. Be sure to use the latest version of BandLab Assistant by clicking the gear at the top left and choose Check for Updates, then go to Apps > Cakewalk by BandLab, and click [Install].

I have a similar problem. Creating a Region FX makes for a crash. Maybe someone could help.
