  1. https://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/new-in-melodyne-5 £133 to upgrade Studio seems a bit pricey to me, having looked through the new features. I'll hold off for now.
  2. Thanks. I'm going to fire up my old PC that I replaced last year and rummage on it to find the earlier downloads. EDIT: Ah! Surprisingly all previous versions are still downloadable from 'My Products'. I deleted the version I'd got installed and can confirm that 1.0.3 does indeed run better in terms of CPU load.
  3. It begs the question in my mind, why did/does IK (not a slouch in their market arena) go to all the trouble of devising and programming sophisticated software products that they want to sell a lot of in what seems a slipshod manner? Surely they would have a clue at design stage that it would be a very good thing if the code took account of the PCs buyers are probably using? 😡🙄
  4. A quickie on the Lurssen Mastering Console issue. Here is CW struggling with LMC loaded. The song is not playing at first, then I start play. The project consists of four audio tracks, one MIDI track, plus one mixdown track (solo'd) into which LMC is inserted as an effect. Samples set at 512, thread scheduling model 2. 'Use multiprocessing engine' and 'plugin load balancing' both ticked. My first core (of 14) is being blitzed with many cores lying idle. If I change the LMC GUI to small it reduces the load slightly - the first core doesn't then go occasionally into the red. As a non techie, is it too much to expect that between Cakewalk, IK Multimedia or Steinberg (it's the LMC VST3 version), that applications use all available cores efficiently? Sorry, I made the video below in TinyTake screen capture and it's too big to load up here. How do you make those short (presumably smaller file size) clips I see on threads??? Lurssen Screen Capture
  5. Wow, this was a happy surprise! Many thanks and well done to all involved! My eye was immediately drawn to these:- "Solved multithreading race condition leading to latency when using Aggressive thread scheduling model" "Memory leak when using the Aggressive Thread Scheduling model" "Unexpected latency when using the new thread scheduling model" I wonder if these will help my 14 core PC run CW better, and solve my problem with IK's Lurssen Mastering plugin which hasn't been working in CW for a while now unless I ramp my Aio's sampling rate up to 2048?
  6. Thanks for this. I don't think I've used CAL but will definitely try this. I've been plagued by double MIDI notes before, usually when I've been making a drum track by copying and pasting repetitive parts, fills, etc. and overlaps can sometimes occur by accident. My usual method, if I can't hear obvious doubling, is to painstakingly check.
  7. I've only just bought the entry level Sample Tank 4, and was probably going to download the free Syntronik. But am I seeing here that Syntronik sounds are actually comprised of sounds I already have in ST4, so I don't really need it?
  8. Since the update I have had a major issue with IK's Lurssen Mastering Console. It always ran fine before at 1048 samples. Now it will barely run at 2048 samples, and even then dropouts occur. The project is tiny - 5 MIDI tracks (using SampleTank3), 3 audio tracks, plus a mixdown audio track into which LMC is inserted. I've used thread scheduling model 2 since it was introduced. I've tried switching to 1 and 3 and that makes things much worse. I used to use this plugin quite a lot but now it's become virtually unusable. 😩 As an experiment, and as it 's a small project , I took the tracks over into Studio One, mixed down to a track and inserted Lurssen and it was fine at 1024, and even 512. Has anyone else struggled with the Lurseen Mastering Console in CW? I've been having odd moments when it seems to me CW is struggling with the whole latency issue and I can't help noticing the number of threads that pop up on this. I'm very reluctantly coming around to the view that CW's performance in this area is not as good as other DAWs and the above straight forward example lends weight to this in my mind.
  9. I'm having trouble with IK's Lurssen Mastering Console which, since the latest CW update, won't operate unless I change my sample rate to at least 2048. It's the VST3 version so I decided to install the VST2 version and see if that would play nicely with CW. Installing the VST2 version went fine, and the LMC is now listed in the plugin utility as available in both the VST2 and VST3 effects lists. But, when I go to add it to a track, only the VST3 version is showing in the FX browser on the right or in the tracks FX box lists, the VST2 version is nowhere to be seen. I don't understand how this can be! Is there something I've failed to do?

  11. I got the impression from somewhere that there are a lot of new Pro Channel presets? Where are they?
  12. Many thanks all. I finally got it working, using ASIO4ALL, but it was very disappointing. The sound via USB was nothing like as good as that using my RME Aio soundcard, and the desk's controls didn't all operate in the same way as with connections to my soundcard. I realise I've bought a mixer that is probably 90% for live band use and 10% for home recording, despite the marketing blurb. I bought it in order to have something with a much smaller footprint than my very old Tascam 2600 16:8:2, which I think I'll go back to, and sell the Mackie. 🙁
  13. Many thanks to all concerned for their sterling efforts. 👏 I'll be firing it up today to see the new features!
  14. Yes, I thought that update would do the trick but it must have related to something else. Mike at Scuffham acknowledges this VST3 bug and is liaising with CW to get it sorted.
  15. I've experienced similar problems. In my case I have installed a plugin and then found it had not turned up in the list of plugins, even though the proper folder address for it was included in the list of folders to be scanned. In the end I copied the relevant dll file to a specially created new folder on my C: drive, added that to the folder list, rescanned, and then it found it. Why would it manage that and not see it in it s 'correct' place? Also, I note from the above posts that I have been wrong always doing this in the plugins utility. Do CW know that it is broken?
  16. Thanks scook. The VST2 version does indeed work. I've raised a ticket with their Support to see if I can get more information on the problem and ETA on a solution.
  17. Russ, have you had any joy on this yet? S-Gear in Cakewalk for me is silent, but other processors like Amplitube, GuitarRig and TH3 all work properly. Also, the S-Gear standalone works fine and it also works in Studio One.
  18. This is totally weird. I went to use Scuffham's S-Gear today in Cakewalk and although sounds are getting to the channel it's on, there are no sounds coming from S-Gear. The sounds just aren't passing through S-Gear. I tried inserting other guitar processors such as Guitar Rig, Amplitube, and Cakewalk's TH3 and they all work! Even odder, S-Gear continues to work fine in Studio One! Am I going mad? Have I somehow altered something inadvertently? All and any help gratefully received - I'm going doo-lally! 😭
  19. I'm trying to use CW with my new Mackie ProFX16 v3 mixer via USB. I downloaded and installed the Mackie driver for it, but for some reason it doesn't let me choose the Mackie in my Preferences, they're greyed out - see screenshot below. Does anyone know why this might be?
  20. I bought a new PC six months ago and reinstalled all my software. I've just loaded an old Sonar project that I want to re-work and it's saying my BT Analog Phaser is not present, which was on one track. What happened to the Blue Tube plugins in CW ? Edit: I found the relevant thread. I can't get them back unless I uninstall CWBL, reinstall Sonar Platinum, reinstall CWBL. 😔
  21. Use the Inspector. I always go into the Inspector and change the foreground and background colours of all my track clips so that I can more quickly identify them, drums/percussion=red with white text, bass=brown/yellow, pianos=blue/white, and so on.
  22. The ability to 'hot key' my soundcard's screen for changing sample rate so save the number of clicks I now have to do when changing up , e.g. when about to master, or change down, e.g. when using a guitar processor.
  23. "...this problem becomes absolute my side.." Can I just clarify, do you mean that audio processing is not as good when you close the Help module? Is that 100% the case every time you open CW and close the Help module?
