The build is 70, or 2019.09. As for ripple editing, I don't use it, and I can't figure out where to even see whether it's turned on or not. 

Edit: I just found it, it's in the upper right corner of track view. It was in fact turned on, I must have hit it inadvertently.

I'm using the CbB version from last September. I work a lot in staff view, and lately, I cannot use copy paste. When I paste some notes, a shift forward of several measures happens. The notes get pasted where I want (at the now marker), but every other instrument gets shifted forward, with the intervening measures all blank.

I have not changed anything in my system, still using the same CbB, still on windows 7, which has not been updated for several months.

Nah, I was just attempting to be humorous. I think that among classically-oriented musicians it is far more common to use notation software first. Many are content with the sound they get from that, as they are more interested as the score as the final product. If they want to get a better idea of the sound, they then try it in a DAW, although many seem bewildered by them and hurry back to their notation software. I bought Cakewalk 2000 many years ago in a music store, when the guy asked me if I was more interested in a score or sound as the final product. when I said both, he sold me Cakewalk. and it has worked out well. I did try Reaper for a year or so when they put in a notation feature (which is very good for a DAW), but came back to CW when BL rescued it from oblivion.

Great news about NS forum. I really thought it was done this time. I don't use it anymore myself but I know how valuable it is to them that do, so here's hoping it stays around.

That did help, thanks. I do midi so I don't really have much audio, but just running the utility, and deleting two large files in Recycle Bin that I didn't need, has improved saving time considerably.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked it though and it's not fragmented, so that wasn't it.

I am working on one of my orchestral projects, and lately when I save it, it seems to take forever. It used to save very fast. Could the project have been corrupted? If so, what should I do about it?

I am not using the latest CbB, being of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school; but it's fairly recent (2019.09). Also I am using Windows 7. I rarely go online with this computer, but I use Malwarebytes Premium just to be on the safe side. Could that have something to do with it?

Cool, I also try to talk up Cakewalk over there, especially now that it's free. Although most folks there seem to use notation software. some write their stuff in notation, then do a sound version in a DAW. Of course, being left-handed I do the exact opposite,  I write it in Cakewalk and then do the score in notation software. Which apparently nobody else on the planet does....

I should mention, though, I personally have never felt at all ill-served by the folks on this forum. I only do classical/symphonic stuff exclusively, but when I've posted my music, folks here have been generous with their time and commentary. And it's been really appreciated.

 

I certainly did not mean to imply anything to the contrary. I posted a couple pieces here awhile back out of curiosity, and I did get some good feedback. Many, many rock-oriented people like classical music. I went to a Dan Fogelberg concert once, and he had Bach playing as you walked in.

Larry, the problem with posting classical works on this forum is that the majority of people here are not doing classical. So, if you post your music here, out of courtesy you need to also listen to and comment on the other music people post here. but you probably have as little interest in such much music as they have of yours.

 I suggest you join the Ning Composers Forum. most of the music is classically oriented and you will get far more interest in your music. I see that several former members of Northern Sounds have moved over there (Ted Vanya, fastlane, G Prengel to name a few).

The only thing I can think of is VePro. They were having a sale on VePro 7 recently, and I picked it up then at a great price, also got something called Epic Orchestra. I fooled around with putting Aria and a few others inside Vepro, but discovered that for me there was no gain. So it was kind of a waste of money, as the free Vienna Ensemble player works as well for me. I got a few usable sounds from EO (Oboe D'Amore, Cornet, some string patches), but all in all I could get by as well without it.

I'm going to contact the astronomer Alex Fillipenko to ask him to add TTS-1 to the list of unsolved problems physicists are working on, like unifying gravity with the other three fundamental forces; creating a unified field theory, etc.

They were the first forum I ever joined, shortly after my very belated entry onto the stage of the internet (where I remain largely anonymous). So at least all of my early naivete is now forever hidden. Such as telling a guy there that he looked just like the composer Sibelius (I didn't know yet what avatars were. how embarrassing). I'm pretty sure they banned me for posting "A Boy Named Sue," in reference to my misinterpreting the gender of someone there, who had what appeared to be a purposefully confusing name. After awhile they wouldn't even allow me to email them to ask them what was up. I gave up on them at that point, figuring they were barely hanging on. Which apparently was true.

I think you can still get it for 150.00. you can also rent it but that is not cost-efficient of course. It has loads of stuff. Probably the best synth of its type in the world.

I decided printing Cakewalk scores to be not worth it a long time ago. I found I was better off exporting to a notation program and fixing things there, where there is more awareness of musical notation. there are many levels to choose from, including free (MuseScore). You probably already know this, though. Just my two centavos. Plus, so few actually use notation that I didn't want your thread to suffer neglect!

My plan also. I really despise Windows 10. No offense meant toward those like it (or are able to tolerate it).  Just my (somewhat paranoid Luddite) opinion). 

Another way to do it is with the Length procedure, under Processes. But it works by percentages. So, if you want to change all the notes by 30%, you put in 70%. Half would obviously be 50%. It can get tricky, so I keep the calculator handy. but it works.

I just tried inserting TTS-1 via Synth View/rack, and it immediately crashed Cakewalk. However, inserting it that way in a new project worked. Suggesting some setting in my older projects is the culprit.

A staff view user, yay! I find it easier to cut and paste in staff view. Just select the note or notes you need and either copy/paste or cut/paste. The Move tool gives me problems also. Fortunately, there's usually another way to do it.

More info on this: I tried inserting a new instance of TTS into one of the older projects, where the existing TTS instances do work. first time it crashed CbB immediately. Second time I got it inserted, but it crashed when I tried loading an instrument. 

How do I tell if an instance is 32 or 64 bit? Also, is TTS only DXI, or is there a VST version? 

Jim, that should, theoretically, work. I'll have to wait until I'm feeling either very bored or adventurous to try it. Although it seems safe enough. Nothing to lose, except upgrading to the most recent CbB is slightly risky. Past upgrades have been problematic at times for me.

I knew and loved the VSC, still have it installed on my old computer with Sonar Home Studio 6, I believe. The variety of sounds there is amazing. Including a Shanai, ancestor to the oboe. where else you gonna find that?
