  1. Rex , Nice Smooth intro.. I do think you could get your vocals a little more up front. I think the vox volume could come up a little but , mainly think it's a little "reserved" sounding. Maybe just some fx adjustment would do it. Great vibrato on your held out sections ! I'd also like to hear some driving higher vocals , instead of the low spoken sections .. First listen , first impressions. I did Really enjoy it .. mark
  2. Glenn , Very Cool song. You did a great job with the synth voices , Very convincing. I agree with @treesha . More cowbell , or at least "some" cowbell. Interesting , I think the female vocal when it comes in , actually sounds like Treesha. Nice one .. mark
  3. Hello Paul , The entire mix sounds much tighter now and the instrument levels sound Good to me. I believe the dynamics sound way better also. That normally doesn't happen for me at the mastering stage , with things getting boosted and compressed. I think you did a superb job finishing this one up and it sounds mainstream. Enjoyed it again .. mark
  4. Thanks Bruce. I'll look at the backing vocals closer. Good ears , the SoundCloud version hasn't been updated to the revised mix yet. I guess the remix 1 was an improvement. Having a free account at SoundCloud , I can't update the mix without completely deleting the song. Lately Ive been doing my back and forth mixes on SoundClick and posting to SoundCloud when I'm satisfied . SoundClick also streams at a higher bit rate . mark
  5. Cool song Paul. I was surprised by your vocal range ! Great guitar playing and tone . I especially liked the section around 2:16 , It seemed to have a Tom Petty (ish) quality. Very Nice work as usual Enjoyed the listen .. mark
  6. @DeeringAmps Thanks Tom. I brought the vocals up 1 db in the intro verse , and 1.5 db to the end. I've been steadily lowering them thinking I was too loud. I lowered the piano 3 db during the cello break. I think it sounds a lot cleaner now. Thanks for the direction ! After 2 versions of this song I've lost some perspective. @Tim Smith Appreciate it. I too was feeling the crispness especially on the lead vox. I lowered the highs a little and attempted some de-essing. I also tweeked the mastering EQ a little. Not having many playback options , it's nice to hear suggestions from someone not so close to a mix. @KSband Thank You for the listen and commenting. The link now reflects remix 1. I'll continue to remix until I think it's done. Thank You .. mark
  7. Hello , we decided to do 2 versions of this song. This one is the "chilled" version with cellos , piano and synths and a different electric break. Any suggestions , especially volume wise as far as the vox and breaks would be helpful. When this one is done , it will also be renamed before releasing . Subvibe surprised me with this mix . I thought it would be a good one for cellos. Thanks for your time and any comments , crits and suggestions .. mark The link now reflects Remix #2 https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14664184
  8. I Really liked the pristine highs in this. Very nice EQ wise. I think a few of the electric guitar note stabs could be tamed a little. Several of the changing different sections could be the main theme in completely different songs. I didn't have a problem jumping to the fast tempo parts and Really liked them. Maybe cross fading into some of them would also be nice. I think you could lose the section @noynekker mentioned and not hurt the song at all. I also think a little silence before the song starts and a longer fade out would be nice. All in all a Very Impressive production. Actually I Loved it .. mark
  9. Sweet .. I can't wait to hear where this goes. I Loved the choruses and the transition into them. Enjoyed it .. mark
  10. It was a question . Sometimes , things get changed without you changing them.
  11. You sure had my head bobbing with this one. Great party tune. Welcome to the forum ! Hope to hear more from you. Enjoyed it. mark
  12. Hey Keith , I loved the tremolo guitars and your vocal mix. Entire mix sounds nice ! When you get time check out "Pancake" . It's a free auto pan vst with an adjustable preset called "slow walker". It works perfect for center panned lead breaks like the one in this song. For some reason sounds way better than automating the pan yourself and sounds better than the guitar being static panned to center. Enjoyed the song again .. mark
  13. Hello Guys , @hsmusic Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. Thanks Bruce. The "marked guitars" comment may lead to a new song title.👌 @Lynn Wilson We both have appreciated your support and comments on our collabs and seperate songs . @paulo I appreciate that. I've found that not much sounds good on my lappy without decent headphones. @garybrun Very nice to hear from you! I know how busy you've been and still offered to do a remix. Files are sent. This one has made it back and forth from the exotic state of Alabama to the Netherlands and now Norway. I love the internet. We'll appreciate any further comments or crits , but I won't bump the song up untill Gary works his magic. Thanks mark
  14. Are you highlighting the actual clips that you want to bounce?
  15. Bajan , I Love the energy and powerful harmonizing hooks in this. It sounds like one of those songs that's a little hard to date , given the trends that seem to come and go. I Really enjoyed the entire production. Hats off to your drummer ! Gonna be a Great album. mark
  16. Thank's Guys. @Rikkie Appreciate you commenting. Yeah this tinnitus thing is a real pita. @Larry T. Thank's for the detailed response. Exactly what I asked for. I'll post a remix soon . Bringing up the bass guitar alone has made a Big difference and it allowed me to make further changes. She's M.I.A. on this one. You are stuck with just me on vocals. I miss her too . @jack c. Thank You , I'll look at the harmony's again before the remix. @Bajan Blue Thanks for the comment. It's nice to have conformation before commiting to changes. (especially from your talented perspective) Later .. mark
  17. Hello , here's a new one that needs finalizing. There's a good bit of acoustic guitar mixed with my G&L and synth work. I could really use some guidance on EQ , instrument and vocal levels. So .. that's about everything. I think it's getting close but , I'm not trusting my ears right now . I'm into one of those 6 month tinnitus reoccurrences. This time I've gotten the unusual "broken speaker effect". It had me swapping out everything including my interface. Now it's subsided to just the ringing. Thank You for the listen and any comments .. mark Links now reflect remix 1 (per suggestions). Thanks mark https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14655929
  18. Keith , I Really enjoyed the vocals and the flowing melody. Very Nice. You get 2 thumbs up for the song title alone .. Enjoyed it .. mark 👍👍
  19. I am not one of the people that feel they got ripped off with the Gibson fiasco. The last Cakewalk product that I actually bought was Sonar7 and it's 32bit. I've tried a few other Daws , and have Very recently. I have nothing comfortable to fall back on. My simple workflow never reveals bugs and I Never crash. I am Totally hooked ! I will Have to stay with some version of this software. Now I'm going to relax and quit worrying about it. ms
  20. Very Cool production Lynn. I Really liked all of the unexpected twists and turns in this one . Very Creative ! Enjoyed it .. mark
  21. T , one thing that has helped me is flipping my master channel to mono. You can then easily hear and adjust the tracks that are too loud and possibly smearing the groove. After making adjustments the stereo mix normally sounds much better than it did. I usually make some small tweaks and then literally get away from the mix. I mean getting out of my chair and the sweet spot about 12 feet . I do a critical listen and then move out into the hallway. Sometimes the mix works , sometimes it needs help. mark
  22. Nice .. I think I need to take a closer look at the presets. Swampy indeed .. mark
  23. Gary , by far I think this is your best work ! Fantastic job. Everything is clear and powerful. Congrats to all of you , I'm sure this one will do well. Loved it .. mark

    Saqqara

Larry , Pretty cool and especially hypnotic. Enjoyed it .. Are you uploading Wav files to Bandcamp ? I've never used them but , as far as I know All the sites convert to mp3 regardless of what you send them. If you upload an Mp3 , they're going to hit it again .. You will get much better results sending at least 16 bit Wav . If you are already doing that you're probably just noticing the difference in the streaming quality vs Wav. mark
  25. Cool one ! Great guitar playing and tone Paul. I sure hope to hear a remix before too long but I sure wouldn't rush it. I agree with Bruce about the harmonies needing a boost. They sounded Fantastic. Enjoyed it .. mark
