Hi - Exactly what Steve said!

Thought this was great - loved it but would love it to be longer!

Dr John is one of my favourites

Thanks a lot Nigel! Appreciated. 🙏👍

Nice - reflections of Dr. John mixed in with just a touch of Eubie Blake and Randy Newman - I like it.

Thanks a lot Steve! Have to check out Eubie Blake.

Nice track, good balance in the mix, all the voices clear and present, nice use of brushes on the drums, what did you use? :)

    Thanks a lot! I think it's Battery 4 brushes. 🙂

Much enjoyed. I'd tag this as "jazz" a bit more than "folk, singer songwriter"; but what do I know about genres (and I mean that literally!)

    Yes indeed.

    👍's 👏

of course, I "liked" and commented over at SC. Don't you wish everybody did?

I love comments, especially positive ones. 😊. Thank you so much. You are definitely right about the jazz-tag. I'll fix that. "Singer song writer" without song doesn't sound right. Greetings! Mikael

Wow - this is really well done.  I like the dissonance with some of the chord structure.  I guess it's not really dissonance, but away from normalcy which is mostly a good idea.  Very clear recording.  What do you use for piano?  Is is a plugin?  The bass sound is nice too.

Thank you so much Steve! 🙏 The piano is Addictive Keys, a vst from XLN Audio. The bass is Trilian from Spectrasonic.

  7. Very nice cover of one of my favorite P Simon songs. The arrangement and instrumental selection is great and so is your vocal. The balance in the mix is fine but a bit harsh to my not so good ears. Maybe some warmth would be beneficial? Perhaps it's a personal preference and nitpicking but on "bon" in "bon vivant" and at corresponding places in following verses I'd rather  go for the D major chord instead of the minor. Anyhow awesome job with this great American tune.

  8. Nice melodious soundscape which give me vibes to Pink Floyd. The repetition of harmonies makes it meditative which I like. Perhaps it's only me but some of the higher notes on the lead guitar are a bit harsh on my ears. Maybe some EQ tweaking could easily fix that.

Hi Mikeal, nice one, like it. In the section from 2:08 to 2:58  there are a couple of "cello "notes that clash with the piano, imho.

    Nice uplifting tune.

    Rik

Thanks Rik. Appreciate. I'll check that out.

  11. Beautiful harmonies and melodies. I get vibes of Steely Dan. From my personal standpoint I'd like a mix with less reverb and clearer low frequencies. Sounds a bit muddy there right now. Composition is great.
