  1. If you bounce them down to audio/wave files you can then use Melodyne to convert them to MIDI. Which you can then use with soft synths or to work out chords/progressions. In CbB if you drag an audio clip onto a MIDI track (make a blank one or add a soft-synth) it will convert it to MIDI (uses Melodyne behind the scenes). The quality of the conversion can range from spot on to not even close. But it can help with working with audio loops (which is really all this is). You can alter the key of the loop (by pitching it up or down) which is how ACID loops work and these kinds of sampler playback engines work. You could even slice the audio into single notes/chords and pitch each one to what you want it to be. Composing with audio loops (and soft synths that are built on loops) is it's own skill. How you can make it part of your workflow though might be difficult. You don't have a whole lot of control, but at the same time you can actually create some very amazing songs, even in rock/pop/jazz.
  2. That fixed it. Still wish they would have written this so that the reverse, DI and amped samples were in the same instrument and you picked what you wanted from the UI. Instead of splitting it up into way too many instruments.
  3. Yep. But if you look at the Script Editor inside the Kontakt instrument, the main tab is named "RIFFENDUM 3 Rev 1.02" where in the old one it reads "RIFFENDIUM 3 Rev 1.01" So this may just be a cosmetic problem.
  4. You have to turn off the handshake option in the Mackie Control panel to use any of the Behringer stuff. If your Makie Control panel doesn't have a "Disable handshake" you should download one that does (search the forum).
  5. Pretty sure given what PA has done this year that statement can't be true.
  6. Yeah, no vouchers for Dec, I guess they skip that month (on purpose).
  7. ASIO was never meant to do what Systemwide is trying to make it do. I turn it off, it's just asking for trouble. It might work with Windows Audio, but even still I'm not sure it's something I'd count on.
  8. Way back in 2004 I bought Alien Connections Revalver Upgrade from Revalver SE in SONAR XL or Guitar Tracks Pro for $59 from the Cakewalk store. But when Peavey took over there was never really an upgrade path. I think I picked up a amp for Revalver 4 from XLN audio one year (with a SONAR upgrade), not sure how I'd get that now if I even cared.
  9. For Kontakt 6 they dropped the number from the directory. Most likely to solve install problems in the future. So yes, Kontakt 6 is just plain Kontakt. You might want to try re-adding the library to Native Access. First uninstall it (yes this is ugly) https://spitfireaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009167093-How-to-remove-a-library-from-Native-Access-Windows- Then start Native Access and reinstall the library, pointing Native Access to the directory you got when you decompressed the rar. You might also want to use WinRAR to decompress the rar rather than 7zip (or use 7zip if you used WinRAR before). I've seen a few library developers make archives on Macs that don't decompress correctly on Windows. Not sure that would cause this kind of problem, but you never know. Impact Sound Works have generally been pretty good about fixing things, they fixed a bunch of problems I found in Super Audio Cart way back, but it did take them a while. I suppose it's also possible it doesn't work in Kontakt 6 at all? Not sure there is any easy way for you to try it in Kontakt 5 (unless you have it/still have it installed also). Sorry this random advice hasn't been all that helpful. Someone else must have this library though, they might be able to help you more specifically. Good luck.
  10. I suspect the Multi is trying to load pictures/images from the Kontakt 6 directory %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt\pictures but for Kontakt 5 that directory was %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\pictures if their installer didn't put the images in the right directories, the loading will fail. There are a few other directories in that area that also contain files that instruments might need to install. You might want to not filter so narrowly on Procmon, just filter on Kontakt not a specific folder.
  11. I'm not sure why this thread came back to life (is there a sale on the Chris Hein Horns?) but just for the record I ended up buying both Chris Hein Horns Compact and Broadway Lites. Niether of them do I think is all that great. Both are kind of synthy and not in a good way. And they both have the baggage that their Kontakt instrument skins/UI/controls aren't very modern/updated. Sadly with pretty much every horn library you are going to have to play the mod wheel and tweak notes specifically. While I don't think these two are that great, I also haven't found something else I think is much better either. These may be the very best available, but that doesn't mean they are all that good either.
  12. Lots of old plugins were designed to read/write configuration files where they were installed. When Microsoft changed Windows so the Program Files directory was protected all of these plugins started having problems and technically needed to be re-worked to save their settings someplace other than where they were installed. By installing your VST plugins some place other than Program Files you may avoid some problems with very old plugins. But plugins being released these days have to work in the Program Files environment. For example VST3 plugins really should only be installable in c:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. That is the only directly they should ever be installed to (despite the fact a few plugin developers let you choose a directory). For VST2 plugins while you can specify where to install them there are a handful of standard directories (that any plugin developer may need to be able to support). All of these standard directories are in Program files (and Program Files (x86) for 32-bit) . If a plugin won't work in Program Files, the developer should fix it. Yes, for really old abandoned plugins you may have no chance of getting that to happen. You can install those to some place else. But modern plugins should expect to be installed in an admin protected directory and store it's settings in a user modifiable directory.
  13. The Overloud one is 2.1.12.0, the Cakewalk installed one I have is 2.1.13.0 I actually have both but CbB loads it's 2.1.13.0 version instead of the one in my common VST folder. That one is the version they made available when Cakewalk died. I guess I shouldn't have two of them. But both of them are higher versions than the one of yours that is crashing. So I'd start there.
  14. My SONAR Breverb is a higher version number than your crash (mine is 2.1.13.0) --a-- W32 DLL - 2.1.13.0 shp 6,089,728 11-08-2018 breverb 2 cakewalk-64.dll I think you may need to update this plugin. I doubt the location has anything to do with the crash. Cakewalk doesn't care where the plugin is really (except for finding it/using it which it clearly is doing)
  15. I don't have it, but as a rule Kontakt instruments (especially Multis) with graphics that don't load means it's not been installed correctly. Its' very likely the installer they provided isn't putting all the files in the right places for your Kontakt 6. I'd think their support would be able to help you with this though. When I have a Kontakt instrument that isn't' working right like this, I run Sysinternals Procmon and then load the instrument. It logs every file access. It's usually not hard to see what it's trying to load (and failing on) and then I move the files to where it's trying to load them from. But that's a very technical kind of thing, not sure I'd recommend it for the average user. Here's Procmon https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon When you open it up, put a filter on Kontakt (and use the stand alone version of Kontakt). Look for it trying to load the files.
  16. This is my main keyboard. I'm pretty sure I paid more than $100 for it. It's definitely a good deal for the money. The motorized faders work in pretty much everything. Though to get it to work in Cakewalk you have to use a version of the Mackie control DLL that lets you turn off the handshake (search the forums, it's available). I actually have built my own custom version of the Cakewalk Mackie Control DLL just for it, the idea being I'd customize it specifically for the Motor61. But I haven't made much progress on it and that was more than a year ago. I'm using it, but my dream of a ton of Motor61 features has kind of fallen off. They have updated the firmware a few times. Make sure you are current. The keys are better than most low end keyboards, they have some weight/heft. But they are also still cheap. So it's a mixed bag there. If you are a pro player I suspect you won't be impressed. For me though it feels better than anything I've tried at Guitar Center.
  17. Samsung Magician says how many TB you have written. My new computer is just about a year old and it's saying 50.8 TB. The drive according to Samsung is good for 600TB (minimum). So ~12 years at the rate I'm using it. But if that article is correct drives can go a lot more than that spec. I don't think I'm that worried about it.
  18. Yep, it's definitely a selection thing. I can make the blobs visible by reselecting the clip. So how does the keyboard shortcut know which Region FX effect to use? Or is it just wired to Melodyne always?
  19. I got: Ableton Live 10 Suite upgrade from Lite (not sure I need another DAW but the price was pretty good) Sonuscore's Elysion Crossgrade (used some Best Coin's to get a better price) The Toontrack drum and EzKey MIDI packs that went on sale UJAM Virtual Drummer 2 bundle upgrade (from VD Phat which I got for free, so a pretty good deal) More interesting is what I didn't buy (that I was considering): Jaeger (sale price is still too high) Cinematic Studio Strings (decided I really didn't need another string library) Anything from Spitfire Audio
  20. All SSD's have a limit on how many writes they can survive. While it is a high number, you can hit it, just might take a while. https://www.ontrack.com/blog/2018/02/07/how-long-do-ssds-really-last/
  21. Oddly no. The shortcut works, but the Melodyne UI comes up with no blobs.
  22. I don't think I realized there was a short cut, I always right click and wade through the menus. 🙂
  23. I'm not sure (and I haven't setup any way to roll back yet), but it certainly is a bug now. I'm running the full Melodyne 4 Studio 4.2.4.001 (not sure that matters). After testing it a bit, it looks like the "edit notes" icon isn't enabled/clicked on the track that is opened in Melodyne. If you click on the little blob in the track list, the blobs appear. Here's what the editor looks like when it's opened: Notice the little orange blob icon in upper left doesn't have a white outline. If you click that, the notes then appear: It may be a problem Melodyne needs to fix, I'm not sure. Cubase doesn't work this way (with it's new ARA features) though (the extent of my testing really).
  24. I'm seeing this too with the Hot Fix (don't have the release to test it with). I load in a small audio bit and make it a Melodyne RegionFX and the Melodyne window doesn't show any notes. If you close and reopen the window it does have the notes.
  25. This worked, the Virtual Drummer 1 to 3 upgrade doesn't require your single be version 2 already, you can go from a single V1 to the 3 version 2 drummers.
