  1. Am I correct assuming this trick is rather modern thing? I don't think they used this back in the 90's in euro dance? Or what you think? Any sample tracks where this might have been applied during that era?
  2. Thanks for the insights everyone. In my case I have some recorded vocals I ordered through Fiverr and I'm not sure if the singers used any compression in recording them. Maybe I should ask. And as this tip is obviously meant for the recording phase I might not need to think about it. De-esser, one compressor and/or manual adjustment as Craig explained would do it for the peaks I guess. Or another trick is the parallel compression, that is meant for mixing stage, could be one to consider. Any ideas on that? Do people use it on EDM?
  3. Hi any idea how to achieve similar results with Cakewalk plug ins as this video demonstrates with hardware compressors? It's about vocal compression with two compressors using different settings for both, subtle and more stronger. At least the 1176 emulator is available, but how to substitute the other one and how to set them correctly? What ever the case I find it a bit hard to grasp the whole point in doing this. Doesn't the harder one overrun the more subtle one anyway? Thanks!
  4. Hi I wanted to make this one a separate thread. Can anyone confirm whether Fresh Air plug in work in Windows 7 64bit system? I got an error when trying to add it into FX slot.
  5. This is an old topic, but since my issue is closely related, let me continue here. Did anyone make Fresh air work in Windows 7 64bit system? I got an error that it's not supported in Cakewalk when trying to put it into FX slot. But maybe it's more of a Win7 issue than Cakewalk as others here managed to make it work?
  6. Can anyone confirm this update still works on Windows 7 64bit? The previous one that I still have installed works well although I know even that was not "officially" meant to work on W7.
  7. Hi is here any function in Cakewalk to let it automatically mix all the tracks and create proper EQ settings for each tracks? Os is there perhaps any plug in that does it? So that I could set it on all the tracks and then it would communicate with all the instances of itself and create balanced mix proposals to choose? Like for bass, kick drum, lead synth, pads, hihats, snare, lead vocals, backing vocals and so forth. Creating room for each instrument/track and come up with balanced master output. I looked up Wavesfactory EQUALIZER demos but I did not understand if it works that way. And Trackspacer might need manual settings too.
  8. I'm happy to see a little conversation coming out of this. Just to clarify, I'm not exactly a beginner in making music, but with Cakewalk yes. I haven't done any finalized productions on it, but I'm working on the first one. Thanks for the input for all, it's good to see different views.
  9. Actually that's what I was thinking. That if I could achieve the same result with Cakewalk Pro Channel using kick drum preset for kick drum channel and bass preset for bass line channel in tube/console module and that would "magically" glue them together in some way. Without any additional manual EQ tweaking. But maybe its a matter of trial and error.
  10. Thanks for the replies. What do you think, is it good idea to use some of those tube and console emulators in every channel or only in some channels like bass and kick drum? Or does it cause some kind of sonic imbalance if they are employed only in couple of channels? And why not to leave them only for the master bus? I'm speaking of sort of EMD style of music. Is it common to use them on such style?
  11. What is the difference between SSL channel strip and Pro Channel in Cakewalk? Are they doing the same thing or they are different? Like the tube and mixer emulators that reside at the bottom of the Pro Channel chain as default? Are those comparable to what this guy in this video does? So in order to get proper room for each instrument in the mix does the Pro Channel presets do the trick or do I need some other equalizing ticks? I can't keep multiple Pro Channel equalizer windows open at the same time in order to see the balance. Maybe I need the Voxengo SPAN plug in for it? Any ideas? Thanks!
  12. Thanks! I did full search with those project types and quotation marks and I found them!! There happened to be sort of duplicate folder of the same name with same content (except those projects) that I had been placing somewhere else by coincidence I guess. Very strange indeed the search didn't find them by their actual names but only the file type. And that they stopped showing up in the start up. However. I'm relieved. Thank you so much.
  13. Thanks fore the reply. I know the names of them and I had them on certain folder in D partition, but they are gone. And even if they were in the default C folder they should not be erased as a result of an update. I found there in default folder location -> C : Cakewalk Projects was one "test" project folder and project file from last summer 2022 that had not been erased apparently. But it's none of the more important ones. So it has been selective in erasing.
  14. Hi everyone I just realized some of my projects I saved before updating the 2022.11 version like almost half a year ago have been lost. It's been many months since I touched them and I was shifting to other projects, but now when I was trying to look up for them I can not find them anywhere. I remember they used pop up as recently used project to select when opening Cakewalk, but at some point I guess they stopped showing up, but back then I didn't pay attention as I said I had another projects going on. But I now wanted to look into them and they are lost. What's weird that they were located on other partition than C where the CBB is installed, if I remember correctly, so I wonder how they can be erased like that during the update? There's only find some dump files(.DMP) in some Picture Cache folder that I found by search function. Their size seem like they would be the dumped project files. The autosave function has apparently not been active by default. Is there any hope in trying to convert the dump files back into working .cwp project files? I'm a disappointed. Usually autosave is enabled in most DAW's as default and updates do not erase your saved projects like this, especially from other partitions. I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you in advance.
  15. At which version you stopped testing it on Windows 7? I still have 2020.11 (build 099) 64 bit. And I'd also like to ask to get rid of the six months reactivation request. Does it apply to the off-line method as well? Or can I bypass it with off-line activation done only once per computer/system?
  16. Where are the old installation .exe files in case one needs to backtrack to older version for some reason, like if the latest upgrades stop working on Windows 7? And what about the off-line activation? Does the six months reactivation period apply to it as well? I hope you could abandon that reactivation policy.
  17. Thanks. Goosh I was so blind I didn't realize it. But does the six months reactivation period apply also to the offline activation? Maybe I should ask from the Cakewalk support about it. I think it's not very good practice as we are dependent on the internet infrastructure that can become volatile in the near future. I refer to my earlier notion in another post about the Cyber Polygon simulation that predicts interruptions to telecommunication networks that, according to Klaus Schwab, will be more serious disturbance than the so called Covid-19 plandemia so far.
  18. But how is the offline activation done? I saw there was an article saying it should be possible, but the link leads nowhere.
  19. Maybe it was the SSD alone that made the difference? I thought Win10 is slower in every sense, unless you debloat it. However, maybe I should make another topic of this, but I found this article where it says the activation must be done every 6 months?! What about the off-line activation. I haven't found the instructions.
  20. Thanks for the replies and insights. Where do you obtain those old (or even the latest) installation .exe files as a separate files that can be stored somewhere? And activated without Internet connection? The activation request was another issue I came across after the long break. I though once it's activated it will remain so forever. Even if I don't use the PC for a year or two. But it was not the case. And I had some problems signing in through the log in box popping up on the launch. However, I managed to activate it after or alongside the aborted update procedure. So I must look for off-line activation in case I lose internet connection at some point. Look up Cyber Polygon simulation event that took place on 9th of July, last month. If global cyber attacks will take place and the system will collapse it's good to have something to do at home, like making music with activated tools;)
  21. I'm not an expert, never used those myself yet, so I was also looking for experiences of this Komplete Start package on Cakewalk. I thought this one is a kind of sampler, so you may need to trigger it from midi/piano roll track and assign the instrument for it, instead of dragging anything onto audio track from it. How do you like the package otherwise? Is it working fine and easy to set up?
  22. I have the version 2020.11 (build 099) 64 bit, but now when I launched the program after a long break, I saw notice of an available update. I tried to install it, but once it was ready to go after download I got another message that it's not supported by Windows 7. Is that true that the latest updates won't work in Win 7 anymore at all like the one I have? I remember even the one I have was not "officially" compatible or supported by Windows 7, but practically it was all fine. Is it the same with the latest updates, or is Win7 now completely incompatible?
  23. Hi, I'm new to this, but isn't there any convolution reverbs bundled with the Bandlab's Cakewalk now when it's available for free? Or you still have to go for third party plug ins?
