Would anyone know the name of the instrument that is like two ceramic (not sure of material) rods approximately 1" x 6" in size that you tap together to get a high pitched "tink" sound? I think it is mostly used in Latin music. I have tried searching on Google for Latin music instruments but I am not finding the instrument or the name. Thank you, yeto

I have been trying this software for a few days now and I am finding it very useful for creating quick backing tracks for song writing purposes. The home page gives you an overview of the software. It really is free. There is no trial period type catch or anything of that sort. It has a good forum and help pages. You can get a response from the person who wrote the software. Thank you. This is helpful. I was thinking of taking the backing track and placing it in CbB as an audio track and then adding my lead guitar and vocal tracks. I know I wouldn't have as much control over the individual instrument parts but I was hoping it would be good enough to demo the songs I write. If I understand what you are sharing I could add the backing track as a .mid file and maintain control over the individual instrument parts.

I have the paid version of ChordPulse as well but it doesn't seem to have the rhythm patterns or sound quality that JJazzLab has. It took me a few days to get comfortable with JJazzLab but I think I like it better versus ChordPulse. I don't want to say anything bad about ChordPulse though as it is good and works as advertised.

The below is some information I found on the internet. Would the below technique work related to that some guitar instrument plugins sound more like keyboards instead of guitars and I was wondering that if by using this method the guitar part would sound more "strummed" versus all the notes of a chord being played at the same time? "If you have more than one guitar channel, it is recommended not to play the chords at the exact same tick, but to move one of the guitars some ticks. (app. 15 ticks in 480 ticks per quarter note resolution, more in faster rhythms). Otherwise the rhythm will sound "mechanical". The longer between the notes the "softer" the rhythm will be." I made the following changes which helped the sound to be more human versus robotic. In Voice Database Settings I changed Tension to -1.00 and Breathiness to 1.00. Do you have any tips you can share related to making phrases sound more human? ***Added Comment: After working with this for approx. 1 week I am really starting to like this software. It is easy to input lyrics. I am having to use the "tricks of the trade" on some lyrics to get them to sound more American versus Asian but outside of that this software is pretty amazing. Anybody using "Synthesizer V" for vocals and would you be interested in sharing your thoughts? I tried Emvoice and liked it but I am still questioning if it is worth $200. I don't use staff view so my work around might cause other problems as well. Your method is probably best.

Click on Hairpin and use the Smart cursor. I don't think this is the best way to move notes but it works.

Are you in Piano Roll View and are you seeing the "cross" when you hover over the note that you want to move? The cross will have up, down, left and right arrows. If you are only seeing left and right arrows then you can extend or shorten the note but you cannot move the note. You have to keep moving the cursor over the note until you get the cross.

Yes, I understood that...I just was not completely understanding. It's not your fault that I couldn't fully grasp all the numbers and I greatly appreciate all your help. Although I have the number I was looking for "-96" I would still like to know where the 1.25 comes from. I am just not seeing it from the formula you provided. "ticks = beats/minute x 960 ticks/beat / 60000 ms/minute x 50 ms --> beats/minute x 0.8 --> Tempo / 1.25" I still don't understand how you arrived at 1.25.

So for my guitar part/song (the tempo is 120 BPM): (step 1) 120 * 960 / 60000 = 1.92 (step 2) 1.92 * 50ms (the delay AmpleSound recommends) = 96 ticks (step 3) I would enter -96 in the Time+ input box so that my rhythm guitar part will align with the rest of my tracks. I also have my song starting at the 3rd measure. Do I have everything correct? Thank all of you for helping and not flaming for all my amateur questions. I did go to approx. 10 different websites to study but I just couldn't get everything to click. yeto
