  4. I'm glad I bought the full bundle, plus Timeless, for $498 back on 07/19/2013. I've enjoyed over a decade of pleasure using these plugins. That is 3931 days to date, or 12.668532180106843042482828796744 pennies per day for you penny pinchers. I think I am going to get R2 while its 58% off and probably going to upgrade to Volcano 3 while it's 75.5% off.

  6. How did I not hear this guys before? The short answer is the current powers that be on the internet are so busy shoving a bunch of meaningless non nutritious music and second rate performances on everybody it has become almost impossible to find a real influential musical genius from the past that happens to be the real deal . In the mid 70's onward Lenny Breau was held in high regard amongst many of the absolute best guitar players from that era . Lenny recorded duet albums with Chet Atkins ..As a Jazz player Lenny recorded and did a film documentary with Tal Farlow . Lenny also had a robust musical background and for those that don't know it Lenny was single-handedly responsible for having been the earliest guitar player to utilize the cascading harmonic arpeggio effects most people have come to associate with Tommy Emmanuel ... Sort of like what Van Halen did with tapping For the record Lenny was playing them every bit as good as what Tommy does in today's era ... When Cher' was doing a concert in my area ( mid 70's ) I met her guitar player and many of her back up band .They were staying at a hotel and I spent hours with her guitar player jamming with him . He taught me the correct tech on how to play those cascading harmonic arpeggios . Lenny also became one of the first 7 string guitar players playing unaccompanied solo Jazz Performances . Sometime in the late 70's going into the 80's . IIRC Aria made a 7 string classical guitar model as his signature guitar . The depth of Lennys talent was very deep ,Yet like many super talented musicians from that era Lenny had succumbed and entered into the tempestuous allure of heroin addiction ....He braved on and still performed but unfortunately his life ended when he was murdered .. to this day his murder is still unsolved . all the best Kenny

  7. This is a bit different style of music than my usual posts - but- every once in a while you gotta try something different ----- don't you? This song presents a dark bit of social observation. Hopefully, it also has a bit of encouragement that is not too preachy. It also might be appropriate for our chaotic world situation. It is not intended to be political or present any particular political position! It simply ask that we just examine how we treat each other. OK, now that my disclaimer is done --- I would very much appreciate any comments, Crit.'s, suggestions, etc. I do have a concern that the lead guitar might be competing too much with the lead vocal. Thanks in advance for listening! HATE https://www.soundclick.com/freddyj

  8. It's Sunday morning for the rest of the world, but Friday night for me. Meaning I get to relax, listen to music and look up stuff on YouTube. I am embarrassed to admit I'd never heard Lenny Breau before now. But I'm even more embarrassed to have referred to myself as a guitarist...

  10. this has always been the way ( substitute "internet" for "mainstream media" ) - there's so much great stuff that doesn't pass the "monetisable product" corporate test - it's the same old "art versus product" thing - -why would the big companies push stuff that doesn't (they think won't) make them money? in my teens i discovered so much music that i'd never heard of! so since then i spend time actively looking for stuff, rather than waiting for some bloated suit to suggest it /goodluck/keeplooking/thegoodstuffsoutthere

  12. Here's Loot Audio with prices close to the others (at least in USD): https://www.lootaudio.com/category/plugins/fabfilter Comes out cheaper than the KVR with coupon (for me at least) and slightly cheaper than JRR with coupon. EDIT: This seems to be product dependent. I've noticed this to be true especially with Loot Audio. Sometimes they have a great price and sometimes it's terrible even for the same sale.

  13. I never payed it much attention... till you said something!! And I agree. But just by a tad. Great song overall. Well produced and played. Singing was very good and up front. Except for the snare that I can't un-hear now!!! : )

  14. OS upgrades always give you the option to keep all files and settings or to nuke them. Myself before I would do this I would spend $50 on a 500 GB ( or??) SSD drive and clone your current system. Samsung has a free app the Magician that I’ve used a few times now that works perfectly for this.

  16. The difference there is a musician can be a player and support the song or you can be the one delivering the song. The best gig I ever had was for 4 years I was an activity worker in a care home. I played my guitar every day and sang old songs. This is we’re I learned it’s more about the lyrics to the old songs than the music. Even though I was capable of soloing I never did. The focus was always the chorus. An example was we brought in these friends of mine who had a jazz quartet and they played old standards but no vocals. There was no reaction from the residents. When I did the sing alongs everybody reacted and most tried their best to sing along. We also learned lyrics sheets were a waist of time for all but the few who were still at that level. You might not remember the name of your daughter but you can sing the chorus to Home on Range

  20. MStereoSpread is worth a quick mention here. Unlike MStereoProcessor, which was offered last week and tailors existing stereo material (but won't generate it), MStereoSpread will generate stereo via either classic delay or via Melda's spectral generator. The spectral generator shifts frequency content randomly to one speaker while compensating the other, which allows for things to sit in the "same space" yet avoid frequency collisions (in a stereo field). Caveat to this is the spectral generation will always collapse to mono perfectly, so be sure to consider that (and frequency collisions) depending on intended playback systems.

  21. That's where you and I differ. Lyrics have always been important to me. There are songs that still make me cry on the spin of a lyric. This is especially true when I know that lyric comes from a place of pain. My own lyric writing has always been painful. Sometimes laying bear your emotions or revealing a side of yourself that you usually keep hidden. It's like standing naked before the crowd. And it's this laying bear of the soul that I've got to stop. It's self destructive and brings me no joy anymore.

  23. Ok...first impressions...it's kinda cartoony looking, rather than having the polished look that Cakewalk/Sonar had. It's virtually the same program, just not as "robust" for lack of a better term, in a less aesthetic, but more HDPI friendly UI

  25. I make my living doing music, and nothing but music. That involves compromises, what to play, where to play, and so on. But to me, the ultimate compromise is to take a 5-day, 40 hour, proletarian, wage-slave job so I can play 'art music'. I can do commercial gigs, and still play 'art music' on the side. And I really enjoy the gigs, too. Notes ♫

  26. I often feel the same way. My main musical goals now are: have some fun (but honestly this comes and goes) learn something new (currently trying to write a klezmer piece) stay out of trouble (idle hands are the devil's playmate) be part of something bigger then myself (you can see some of my transcriptions for my guitar ensemble here) leave a legacy for my grandkids (I don't want my ancestry.com entry to be empty)

  41. If I'm understanding the information on the PreSonus forum's Studio One 6.6 thread correctly, the 6.6 update more strictly enforces the standards for VST3, which caused problems for a few 3rd party plugins that did not follow the VST3 standards closely enough. So far, PreSonus is taking the stance that it is up to the affected 3rd parties to bring their VST3 plugins up to the standards. I believe at least two of them have already issued updates to their plugins which enable them to work as expected with S1 6.6.

  42. I think it's too early to jump to conclusions. Let's wait and see if the new products are worth the household name. I do have my hopes and expectations, because Sonar and then CbB always just worked, and that is the best compliment for software product that I can think of.

  43. It even says so in what you've quoted now that I look at it again... After your Hybrid plan ends, you can get access to Studio One Pro’s major "point" release updates (Ex. X.1, X.2, etc.) by purchasing a Studio One+ Monthly plan, renewing your Studio One+ Hybrid plan, or purchasing a standalone Pro perpetual license upgrade (Pro-to-Pro) at any time. All three purchase options are available for users on non-updating Pro licenses.

  45. So....every other month it drops down to $69? SampleTank 5 must be on its way soon. It's a great package, I snagged it for $49 using Jam Points, direct from IK. Yes, it includes a lot of duplicate stuff you don't need, but that's because it covers so much ground. You don't have to install everything. SampleTron 2 and Syntronik 2 alone are worth the ticket price. Miroslav Philharmonik 2 is also of value to anyone who wants to get started with orchestral stuff. A buddy of mine snagged it just to get Neil Peart Drums. Miroslav was the primary target for me, but the hidden gem was SampleTron. If you've ever wanted to play around with the oddball libraries that most 'tron clones omit, they're here, lo-fi sfx and all. Also, to my delight, a vast Optigan library, including some great lo-fi loops.

  46. Being someone who started in the 60’s with dozens of garage bands playing cover tunes and having fun playing at dances and all that stuff. This was a time when it was possible to actually get out there and score a record deal. I chose a day job instead and music was just a hobby and getting together with other people like me to jam. This was my big city days. Music was fun and casual. I even bought a Reel to reel and started my recording journey. I was like this for about 15 years and we moved to a small community and was immediately grabbed by a local band and hauled off to play at hippie festivals, bars, nightclubs and all that wonderful 80’s stuff. My wife was not happy staying at home with the kids while I spent the weekend out of town making my $100! So I went solo and stayed close to home. I also made $300- $450 this way. Wife was happy and I was still playing. What I learned was I had become addicted to playing live. Im now 71 and I still get phone calls to go do gigs. I still only make $300? Then I have written over 50 original songs and recorded them since 1993 when I built my first studio. I would make cassettes and sell a few of them at gigs but overall it was a flop. I might have made a total of $200 selling Tapes and CD’s in my entire lifetime. Fast forward to last summer when I went big time and posted 14 songs using DistroKid. So far that has netted me $5. So I feel just like you and I think I’ll just pull them and tell the distributor to keep there lousy $5. People want to hear my songs they can come to my gigs and I’ll sell them a CD for $2.00 and make more money that way I have no clue if the people streaming my song actually like them?? At least when you play to a real audience you get a response. I really don’t see the point in releasing music with the new system anymore. And I read here that there’s probably people stealing my music and releasing it under different names. So I can totally see where you are coming from. .

  47. SUCCESS! The package got delivered, albeit left at an unused door. I only found out it was there by checking the tracking page, which said it had been delivered. While walking around the house looking for it, had fingers crossed that it had actually been delivered to the correct address. It was, and the box was mostly undamaged. Nothing like a new toy to take the edge off one's fury.
