1) Because this site. or anything done by a computer. will NEVER come close to replacing what Larry does. It is just a supplement, like my Tiger the Frog post was every November. It's not going to be as comprehensive or accurate or timely. Larry doesn't scrape twice a day--he posts instantly. Anybody who has ever tried to post something before him knows what I'm talking about. ? There's never been anything wrong with having other sites out there, like @Batwaffel at Reddit, KVR, Rekkerd, Sample Library Review, etc. Who cares? Use them if you want. Or don't. 2) Getting things organized in categories and alphabetized is useful, as my TTF posts prove. Getting a ticker-tape of deals as they happen, has its advantages, but its disadvantages too. A list that sticks is simply different. 3) Having a history of prices would be very nice. It's the one reason why people go back to my TTF posts all year round--to find out what the Black Friday prices were. Imagine what a true history over many years would be like as you are contemplating whether a sales price is a good one. That would have been so helpful for me when I was starting out. 4) Larry doesn't really want to be paid. I have repeatedly sent him notes offering help showing him how to monetize this. Aside from asking for some "coffees" for the first time last year, he has a passion to do this free for the community. He sees all of us as family. That's who he is. And that's why he's irreplaceable. It's ridiculous to think that a bot can offer anything like that. We know him and we care about what he says. I ask you, "Can a bot be pissed off at IK?" ?I think not.

These are all fine ideas, but they require employees or consultants to do them. As far as I know, the only staff on Cakewalk are the developers and support. From my observations, BandLab's promotional budget for Cakewalk is next to nil. The only money I've seen them spend was sending some staff to Anaheim for the NAMM Show a couple of years back when we used to have NAMM Shows. I've suggested that there be Cakewalk laptop stickers and t-shirts made available for purchase. I've done some cleanup work on a few of the legacy Wikipedia pages, and made sure that Cakewalk by Bandlab is on all of the lists of DAW's and audio software, but there's still no page for Cakewalk by Bandlab itself.

I'm not of the opinion that Cakewalk is losing share in the overall DAW market. Compared to 4 years ago, there are now multiple YouTube channels dedicated, or largely dedicated, to Cakewalk tips and tutorials. There's a good balance, too, with, for instance, @Xel Ohh and @AdK Studios covering hip hop/EDM methods and @Creative Sauce leaning more toward the traditional "recording studio" approach. There are others, too, and they're all very good, I've learned things from all of them. As for why there's not more coverage in traditional print media, I think that's down to the aforementioned zero budget for marketing, and, unfortunately, the free license model. BandLab don't buy ads, period. Now whether magazines are biased toward companies who do, I'll be charitable and say that it helps keep them off the radar, because the magazines' staffs don't pay attention to the product. There has always been a certain amount of quid pro quo in publications: buy our ads and we cover your products. BandLab are outside that loop, despite owning multiple music publications. The magazines know that even if they did a cover story on Cakewalk, BandLab wouldn't buy an ad in the issue. I think REAPER has the same issue: Cockos don't spend money on advertising, and consequently are never featured in SOS or CM or Beat. The fact that it's Windows-only, IMO has little to do with it, as Logic is regularly covered and only made for a much smaller platform. Mixbus and REAPER even run on Linux and you never see articles about them either. As far as hardware and other integration, sadly, our cherished freeware licensing model likely impacts that, as companies may see users of a freeware DAW as being either broke or cheapskates who don't like to spend money on music making tools. Something that also impacts it is that there are no staff dedicated to selling other companies on the benefits of integration with their products. The way it works is that at the very least, someone reaches out via phone or email and pitches the other company on how popular their DAW (or whatever) is and how their users are clamoring for better integration with their devices, how they'll both benefit from the companies being able to advertise (oh, that word again) the integration. This is one of the things that going to NAMM in Anaheim is great for, it lets companies be visible to each other and the press, and gives them a chance to stop by booths and schmooze. But we've lost the NAMM Show due to the pandemic. It used to be a good way to catch headcolds, so the caution is well-founded. That's my take on why Cakewalk gets so little press. What's worked well for REAPER is grass roots advocacy by an enthusiastic user base. That can be annoying at times, as it can come across as proselytizing. But suggesting it when someone on a forum or IRL or wherever asks "what's a good DAW?" helps. Also mentioning in notes on your Bandcamp or SoundCloud page that you made it in Cakewalk. I try to do my part and "give back" by helping people out on this forum (and occasionally on Facebook), creating multiple themes for public consumption, and submitting thorough bug reports, and the aforementioned Wikipedia editing. Remember, anyone can edit Wikipedia. There are entries for Sonar, Cakewalk, Inc., and the original program called Cakewalk. They were a mess before I edited them; grammatical errors, factual errors, timeline errors, missing information. The current program is still waiting for its own entry. So I think that for now, at least, grass roots promotion by the userbase is all Cakewalk can get. The dev staff are all industry veterans who know their way around, but they were really hired to develop, not market. Noel does keep the KVR entry up to date with each release.

The nice thing about collecting the price information is that you can then do all kinds of things with those numbers. For examples and ideas see IsThereAnyDeal, a website that collects information about games and then shows things like their price history among other interesting things. You can even set up price alerts that send you an email when a game's price falls below a threshold you have specified (ie. "let me know when I can get this game for a dollar"). Larry does invaluable work and this new website is not going to replace him or this forum for anyone, but I wouldn't mind having a tool that would show me all the plugins I want to buy and how their current price compares to previous sales. I have started to collect that kind of list for myself, but every time I add a new plugin to that list I need to search for its price history, and sometimes that information is not easy to come by. Quite often you only find the discount percentage, not the actual dollar amount.

I know this guy (the deleted one) from Twitter for more than a year and he always makes huge giveways. Devs seems to know him because he get lots of licenses from everyone to make prize draws. I'm a lucky guy and have at least 5 plugins from the last giveways

These are amongst the best on the market although somewhat resource hogs. Another great sounding leslie plugin and very very low in resources is the Spin from GG Audio. I'm an organist, I disliked most of leslie sims for their fake sound, including Hammond-Suzuki own algorithmic (digital) leslie ?. But I do get it that you can have a nice creative guitar sound out of most of them.

When I got this a month ago it came with three free preset packs--Particles, Graphite, and Glo. I just looked and now there is a fourth one, Breeze. They say they will keep doing this. These free preset packs are as good or better as the ones that other companies charge bux for. Like the paid Output presets, they only use the onboard sounds. So far, they have only one paid preset pack, Air, which comes with sounds of its own. It lists for $49. During the holidays there was a deal on Cube and Air for $115. Agree with all. Far too expensive for limited use. At £29.99 yes, maybe even £49.99 - but £199 + VAT no thanks. I have everything GForce have done and really like their stuff. I don't think there is a piece that I've done recently that doesn't have the M-Tron Pro (recently = five years for me) on it somewhere.

I don't see any attraction onthis one , and i'm a mellotron aficionado ..... the dual layer thing on the pro I is the real deal , the sound source are plenty , and the sound design capabilities superior , this rythm thing i love , but should have been a plus in the pro , not a dedicated plugin ....usefull to jam or maybe live but that's all is see there .... laynch gas off from start here ....good thing ..

I also think it is because every commercial studios out there own Mac systems leaving Cakewalk that are on the same level and standards as The top 7 Absolute. FL Studio Logic Pro Pro Tools Ableton Cubase Reaper Studio One All of these DAWS have a fully function version for Macintosh and Windows systems except for one of course. It's for this reason I had changed to Mac too. My Cakewalk system is now my personal computer in the main house in the study room. I often sit infront of it when I do beats for myself. So, I think it's for this reason that Cakewalk went dead - Macs are the standard system in Studios and Cakewalk doesn't have one. Sonar tried, but it was a fail. I guess they didn't have enough resources to keep working and perfecting it - dont know. Then of course, there's the youth. What teenager these days own a windows system? I'm going to my mid 30's and was forced the past two years throughout the pandemic to invest in a MACINTOSH business wise, because of the demands from clients sending and requesting Mac files and I can say with confidence, I'm not disappointed. Cakewalk will pickup overnight when there's a Mac version available to promote at NAMM should they decide to create a Mac version the next 12 months. This of course will not happen. I'm willing to create one quality short Video for their IG page weekly.

Yep the next feature is unchecking developers in the filtering. We will also have an email alert for when a product hits a certain price too eventually (phase 3)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no.. Waves are indeed NOT listening ? But I'm sort of glad.. it makes me not listen to the Waves sales, or anything they sell in general, so I save money ?

Or individual installer.. that's what I'm doing One word of caution though, I bought their Juno synth and installed manually because I too hate having to install on my system a "central" and "manager" for every developer out there, but it wouldn't work anyway without updating Pace License Manager to a newer version. That makes me a bit mad cause such practices are begging for troubles for some users, especially those staying on older systems. It was the only one plugin in my life that asked for a new Pace License Manager or no go, and my system isn't that old. Annoying... but man that Juno sounds sooo rewarding
