  5. So watching the videos it looks like they have set it up so that if you load a project made with the Pro or Core BBCSO and only have Discover it will still work. You'll see the "Pro/Core" articulation and it will actually play back. But substitute with the closest match for the version of BBCSO you have. Which explains why I could see the articulations in Discover mode and they actually worked. Which means the stripped down template may actually be better since it will put the drum parts on their own tracks, even for Discover users. Which is maybe easier to use than having to remember/look up/find by hunting which key is which of the drum articulations. Of course this also means you could just use the Pro template as is. Everything will work, it just won't sound the same. Definitely an interesting feature. Should make it nice for students and teachers. I still think the pricing is a bit crazy on this, even the sale price feels off to me. If the sale prices they have now were the normal prices and they had sale pricing on top of that I'd say it was about right. It will be interesting to see if they put it on sale more in the future.

  8. Hi nice people of the forum Yesterday I finished this video. It is my wife's choir here in Wales, UK singing We'll Meet Again - a tribute on VE day's 75th Anniversary (WW2 Victory in Europe). I had to fix the audio from 23 videos taken on mobile phones (UK is under strict lockdown), then manually align them to the backing track they were singing to, then create a video from all of it. It was posted last night and has 9,000 views on Facebook so far. I hope you enjoy. https://vimeo.com/415956582

  14. Who runs the 9900k at 4.9GHz??? 😉 It'll run all 8 cores locked at 5GHz... with air-cooling... and do so nearly dead-silent. The 3950x (4.7 max turbo) doesn't out-perform the 9900k when working at ultra low latency settings. Using a Presonus Quantum, fire up an instance of Helix Native (patch using dual 2048-sample Cab IRs) running at 96k using a 32-sample ASIO buffer size. That's running Helix Native at ~2ms total round-trip latency. With the 3950x... pops/ticks With the 9900k... audio is glitch-free BTW, The 3700x is ~$90 less than the 9900k. Active-Cooled chipsets Small incompatibilities with AMD (not really AMD's fault) Flaky motherboards (requiring BIOS resets) Some motherboards have no option to disable onboard audio, WiFi, etc To save $90? Not for me or our clients. As I've mentioned 1001 times, Threadripper and Ryzen shine in heavily multi-threaded scenarios (video rendering and at larger buffer sizes). That's when they'll smoke the Intel i9s. In ultra low latency scenarios, Intel bests AMD (clock-speed is the single most important factor). AMD is winning IPC (instructions per clock). Intel is winning at all-core clock-speed. If AMD can get Threadripper's TDP down (currently 280w), that'll allow higher clock-speed. 280w TDP is why AMD can't get Threadripper's all-core clock-speed higher than ~4GHz. Even with 105w TDP, the 3950x can't get all-core clock-speed much more than about 4GHz. If you're used to a super quiet machine, you're not going to like a 3970x build. There's just too much heat to keep it quiet.

  21. I have the Behringer Neutron synth. This is an amazing synth for the money. Very flexible and sounds great. Don't listen to the people that say $200 buys you crap. I was looking at all the different Behringer synths that are copies of synths like the MiniMoog but I liked the Neutron because it has flexibility the other ones don't have. The patchbay does allow you to hook up other Eurorack modules which Behringer will be releasing at very reasonable costs. I've owned quite a few synths in the past including Moogs, Prophet V, etc and have been working with synths since about 1974. So the Neutron is not my 1st synth! I think this is an excellent synth to get into world of analog synthesis. Jim

  23. So I stripped my template down to the Discover instruments but I'm not so sure it's going to work right for people without the full BBCSO. In my template I have all the percussion instruments as separate tracks. This is because in Pro BBCSO they have actual articulations also. In Discover though there is only the Untuned percussion choice (which has each percussion instrument on a single note). But when I open the say track Snare 1, it is in Discover mode but it shows the Snare 1 articulation (a view I can't get normally from Discover mode). So I don't think that will work if you don't have the Pro BBCSO. The answer would be to remove all those percussion tracks and just leave the one Untuned one I guess. But someone with the cut down version will need to tell me what happens when you open up Snare 1. If you see this: You can download the Cakewalk template here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=11vrPhsRW2c6jOSNLUxTHY9NwP5Kc1gBu Someone with only Discover will have to tell me if the drum tracks work.

  29. Here are all my Themes and Splash Screens (yes you can change them too!) in one download, perfect for those who wish to try them all or get several updated Themes in one go without having to search them out. This pack contains... All 21 of my Themes (16 technically as a few have alternative options such as solid or segmented meters) 22 Splash Screens (The artwork itself isn't mine but are copyright free images, I added the text and made them the correct file size and type.) 1 'An introduction to Cakewalk Themes and how to use them in Cakewalk' guide. (PDF) (In the ‘Themes’ folder) 1 'How to change or make a Splash Screen image' guide. (PDF) (In the ‘Splash Screens’ folder) 1 Splash Screen Menu .jpg image to help you pick from the 22 ready made Splash Screens. (In the Splash Screens folder) (Nothing like this for Themes as I think it’s better to try them to choose which you like then just delete the Themes you don’t like) 1 'Read me' PDF ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Free download here.... M-Themes and Splash Screen Pack ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of my Themes are free, however, A combined total of around 150 hours, sometimes much more, goes in to creating each Theme I make, then there's more time spent to update them whenever BandLab makes changes or additions to the Cakewalk GUI to ensure any changed or new items display correctly and match the Theme, I also don't make all these Themes for myself, it's more of a hobby and to share the end results with the Cakewalk Community for their use and enjoyment at no charge, Any Tips/Donations via the following link for my time and efforts in creating and updating these are greatly appreciated, however small. Thank You! ❤️https://www.paypal.me/MatthewJohnWhite

  31. I've used that one, It was designed for Ableton. The incontrol and scene features only work with Ableton and cannot be configured with other DAW's as far as I know. The transport buttons, faders, pads etc and keyboard can all work, I used it with Studio One and CbB. There was a problem I had with that keyboard, the reason why I moved on to something else but I cannot recall what it was. It might be relevant to you or not. Someone else might know. It would not be my first choice if I were using it in different DAW's. I used the Nektars and they are great for integration with the different DAW's, downloadable set up files. I use the M-Audio 61 Mkiii Keystation now because it has a Keybed I like and is plug and play with all DAW's but it is only a Keyboard, no pads and faders which I don't use anyway.

  34. Not a bad tune a little repetitive in the groove and like Tom the drums sound like you could do with some variations in velocity. What drum sampler are you using if at all? Sorry if what is below is teaching you to suck eggs but as an ex drummer here are some ideas to help you get more realistic drum feels. No drummer is time perfect they are always a little behind or a little in front of the beat with each hit. There are a couple of tricks you can try on drums, make use of the Vary Velocity CAL script only needs to be a spread of 10 to 15 velocity changes say 85 to 100 will make all the difference. Also nudge can be useful, move a few hits forward 5 or so ticks and a few back the same amount. There are two type of drum rolls Double stroke where the drummer plays two hits with one stick and then two with the other, this normally shows up with one hand being consistently quieter. Single stoke rolls where only one hit is made per hand these tend to speed up as played so the hits get closer together.

  35. It works fine with named workspaces indeed, it's just a problem with the "None" workspace. The reason I use the "None" workspace is because I want the application to remember the preferred state without having to save the workspace (because I just keep forgetting to save it after every little change I make😄). I think with named workspaces there's no autosave option, while with the None workspace it automatically saves it.

  37. The free version of Convergence is a multi-band compressor that offers up to 4 bands of compression (the full version offers up to 10). The crossover frequency can be set for each band and controls are linked by default but can be unlinked. It features a useful input vs output history for each view, which makes it visually informative. The transfer curve is disabled but still seems to work while greyed out. Be aware that it’s quite easy to generate distortion, the time constants are unlabelled and sound fast to me. Take care when setting it up! Key Features Up to 4 bands of compression Adjustable crossovers Bands can be added or removed Attack/Release envelope visualizer Compression Curve visualizer (Disabled) Gain Reduction over time visualizer Oversampling up to 2x Linkable controls Soloable bands The Compressors Convergence uses crossover filters with -6dB gain at the crossover frequency that sum together to create a perfectly flat frequency response. These -6dB crossovers also introduce the least amount of phase shift possible while still being low on CPU usage. The compressors are designed to have a digital feel to their attack and release timing to be as precise as possible. The Displays Convergence comes with several displays that are fine-tuned to help you visualize what effect your tweaks have on the incoming audio. The main display is a spectral analyzer with controls to adjust the crossovers for each band. This allows you to easily dial in the frequencies based on which frequencies are most prominent. Each band also has an envelope display, a compression display, and a gain reduction display. The envelope display helps give you an idea of how the attack and release times will affect the compression. The compressor display shows how the threshold and ratio controls will affect the compression as well by graphing input versus output levels. Finally, the gain reduction display shows input levels and output levels over time so that you can easily see transients and how they are being affected by the compressor. Soloable Bands One of the most useful features of Convergence is the ability to solo bands. You can simply hold down the Control key and left-click a band to solo it to really dial the compressor settings. Multiple bands can be soloed simultaneously. Free Version This plug-in is also available as a free version, which works exactly the same as the full version except that it is limited to 2-4 bands rather than the 2-10 that the full version boasts. The other limitations of the free version are that oversample is only available up to 2x and the compression display is disabled. Try it out now to see the power of this compressor for yourself!
