Hey,

Thanks a bunch for giving this a listen for me, and for your input, good suggestion and encouraging comments!  Greatly appreciated!?

I'll definitely check out my LPFs, I usually have a Low Pass on each track preset to various degrees, but I was in such a rush to try to get a preliminary mix, that due to time constraints, I basically left them set at my usual defaults.  I'll be sure to tweak the EQs for the remix, which will be coming soon.?  I can't wait to get some time after the holidays are over to get back in the studio and really dig in!

Thanks again for your input and observations, that's what makes this forum such a great place!?

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hey, Daryl,

Hope you had a great Christmas and are gearing up for a Happy New Year!?

Big thanks, Daryl, I truly appreciate your excellent ears, always good input and advice, and especially your friendship and support.  You've always been one of the good guys here and on the original forum, and the quality of your work is always top notch!  I really enjoyed your recent Pretenders holiday cover, super stuff!?

I'm hoping to get the pops and clicks out of this one over the next few days and to post the new mix soon.  I'm really looking forward to mid January when things slow down a bit so I can get more time in the studio and be able to put more focus on music again!

Thanks again, and Happy New Year to you and the Mrs.!?

Hey, Harry,

How are you, buddy?  Hope you had a great Christmas and are getting ready for a Rocking New Year!?

Thanks for giving this a listen, and for your valuable input and kind comments!  I really appreciate your observations about the bass because on my last few previous mixes I had the same problem with the bass lacking definition and being a bit muddy.

I've run into that problem in the past when I use my 5-String Bass and don't have the EQ set quite right, it overlaps a bit with the deep down-tuned guitars and blankets the entire mix.  I will definitely make some EQ adjustments to try to clear up the low end for the new mix, which will be posted soon.?

Thanks again, Harry, greatly appreciated, and have a fantastic new year!?

Hey, Tom, Happy New Year, buddy!?

Thank you, sir, for lending your always great ears, input, observations and very kind comments to this test mix for me!  I truly appreciate it!?

Yep, as I mentioned to Harry above, I've been having a bit of trouble on my last few mixes with getting the EQ on the Bass tweaked just right to the point where there's enough clarity and definition without totally losing all of the low end punch.  This always seems to happen after taking a few months off from recording.  In a couple of weeks I should be able to start squeezing in some more studio time, and be able to hopefully start getting my "studio ears" back.  I'm really looking forward to that and being able to spend some more time here on the forum!?

Yes, sir, you are correct.  I usually pan the main rhythm guitars hard left and right, playing different guitars through different amps for both sides, and then send them to reverb and delay busses each processed separately.  For most stuff, I usually use a slightly different version of LCR panning, with L - LC - C - RC - R.  Usually, I leave the center for the vocals, bass guitar and drums, the hard left and right for the main rhythm instruments, and left center and right center for "sweetening" tracks like clean guitars, keyboards, backing vocal pads, etc.  Sometimes I have to shift things around a little using Channel Tools or similar plugins, but that's pretty much my usual panning setup.

Thanks again, Tom, I'm grateful for your friendship and support here on the forum, Happy New Year!?
