Kip Schwanke Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hi all, I do apologize...I am old (69 yers old), analog, and not so up on all of this. But, I am trying to re-invigorate my old config with my Gen 3 iPad and the Behringer iStudio, IS202 docking station. In my iPad, I (used to have) a complex hookup of 2 midi keyboard controllers, using a Behringer FCB1010 foot Pedal, and a Midi Solutions 2 port merger using MidiFlow and MidiWrench into Garage Band and Cubasis on the iPad where I could call up voices I had custom made that talked, barked, chimed to pitch, etc. Now, that aside, once I get that retaught to myself... my goal is to access these in Cakewalk Next on my Win 11 All-in-One. IN THE MEANTIME - - The iStudio IS202 has a Midi USB connection, and my PC sees it. In Cakewalk Next, I can access the IS202 in preferences for input. But NADA in terms of results. Ok, so hold a sec...using a Samson Graphite 25 keyboard, midi out into the iPad, I can trigger sounds in all apps...from Midi Sampler to Garage Band and Cubasis on the iPad. AND - - - - If I Hook up the Graphite 25 to my PC, can trigger instruments in Cakewalk!!!!!! But running the USB MIDI connection FROM THE IS202 to my Computer, though my computer and Cakewalk and Audacity on the Win 11 PC see it...nothing happens. I would think, the Graphite 25 into the iPad, then out to the PC would let me use the Graphite to trigger in Cakewalk on my PC...but no???? What am I missing? Any thoughts?
Kip Schwanke Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Ok, so here's an update, and clearly it is just my mis-understanding and lack of knowledge ...because if I open Midi Wench on my iPad Gen 3, connected to the iStudio IS202 docking station...which is connected via its USB midi to my Win 11 PC - AND Cakewalk Next is open, and the IS202 selected as input in Preferences...my iPad Midi Wrench virtual keyboard WILL PLAY SOUNDS in Cakewalk on the PC. So - IT IS CLEARLY ALL ON ME. I have DENIED myself the privilege to change any settings in any of my iPad apps, UNTIL I CAN re-educate myself on my old set-up because it was so special. It was something everyone at all companies told me I COULD NEVER DO, making any of my own sounds, play on tracks to pitch...so I could have sounds of laughter, to pitch, car horns, whatever...to be the instruments - - - - and the other keyboard could actually talk - where I had black keys playing samples of my voice saying nouns, and the white keys played verbs to make sentences. I don't want to lose this abaility, but have to completely re-lean what I did. Anyway...so yes, it seems clear to me that my problem today, with the PC is simply a in/out midi routing and channel issue in my iPad settings??? Once I am willing to change those routings, I should be able to use everything THRU the IS202. Incidentally, has anyone used the iConnect Plus 4, to access the 30 pin out of a Gen 3 ipad so you can monitor actual analog out into your Win 11 samplers? Thoughts?
