Leander Posted Thursday at 11:24 PM Posted Thursday at 11:24 PM Hey! What does timing master playback mean and do (in the driver settings)? I have a Motu M4 with Out1+2 and Out3+4. 1+2 is connected to my speakers, 3+4 is connected to my phone amp. When I want to work with my headphones, I need to select Motu 3+4 in the DAW OR in Windows for e.g. music playback. However, Sonar works with both timing master playback settings regardless of speakers or headphones. Why? I can use 1+2 for speakers AND headphones...and also 3+4 for both. The only option I need to change is the master output of Sonar from 1+2 to 3+4.
57Gregy Posted Friday at 02:33 AM Posted Friday at 02:33 AM Can't you plug your headphones into the MOTU? 1
happen135 Posted Friday at 03:50 AM Posted Friday at 03:50 AM (edited) I used a method that I don't know whether it's reasonable or not, that is to send the 12 of the main line to 34 Edited Friday at 03:52 AM by happen135
Bass Guitar Posted Friday at 05:38 AM Posted Friday at 05:38 AM (edited) Don’t worry about the Timing Master it should show 1/2. It has nothing to do with the outputs. That is just telling you that Sonar is indeed using the Motu for word clock. I don’t think it’s a great idea to use 3/4 for Windows playback. I have the M4. I can see using 3/4 to drive a headphone amp for studio use as a different cue mix for clients. But if it’s just for you that would be kinda weird. The best feature of the M4 is the Toggles for monitoring that are below each input. I consider the Motu to have the best monitoring system of any of my other 6 interfaces. The headphones using the supplied headphones jack are super loud and it has the mix control to dial in the balance between my input and my Daw playback. I love the ability to turn the monitor off for my Mike when I’m not using it so it’s not bleeding into my playback monitors or headphones. Most interfaces require that you have to turn them all the way down. Now you’ve lost your settings. Anyway unless you’re using the headphone amp for other people I highly recommend you just use the supplied headphone Jack and learn how to operate it using the Monitor button and the Mix control. Leander Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Thank you! I need the phone amp as my headphones are better with it...otherwise the Motu needs to be cranked up too much.
Bass Guitar Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Well you can feed the phone amp with a TRS to 2x TR. Y cable plugged into the headphone jack. I have a few different sets of phones and I run the headphone volume at 12 o’clock . Sometimes as high as 2 o’clock. Where are you setting the mix control? I have that at 12 o’clock as well. It’s really loud.
