After saving it as a CWP file and opening it again, all channel tones will return to the default piano tone. In TTS-1, if you set the channel, bank and patch in the Track Pane, it will be saved. At least that's how it's always worked for me.
sjoens Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Even if you don't and just assign instruments in TTS-1 itself they will be retained. Apparently 32 bit Hyper Canvas can't do either. 1

Apparently 32 bit Hyper Canvas can't do either. Thank you for your reply. I have given up the 32-bit Hyper Canvas and returned to TTS-1, but there is also a bug. When the tone button is turned on, there will be no sound, and I need to rotate the MID to make it sound.

sjoens Posted November 2 Posted November 2 (edited) What do you mean "rotate" the MID? Edited November 3 by sjoens

As shown in the figure, if the equalizer part of TTS-1 is turned on by pressing the ON button, there will be no sound output. Only by rotating the MID knob in the middle to the left or right will sound. Edited November 3 by happen135
sjoens Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) Gotcha. The MID knob is also a volume knob as it gets louder the higher the value goes up or down. 2 controls for the price of one but one breaks the other. Easter Egg or a disgruntled coder?! Who knows but probably one reason they discontinued it. Edited November 4 by sjoens
Bass Guitar Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I’ll put this here as this and a few other threads about GM playback got me looking for alternatives. I found 2. These were the only two that are meeting the requirements. GM midi player, Multi Timbrel and only one was a VST. The other is the replacement for the soon to be removed MS Wavetable synth.

More likely, the sound just happens to have more mid frequencies, which is why it seems that way - after all, an EQ is just a volume knob restricted to a certain frequency range. 1
sjoens Posted Friday at 11:16 AM Posted Friday at 11:16 AM (edited) I discovered the silent MID EQ knob bug is exclusive to 64 bit TTS-1. The 32 bit version works as expected in 32 bit SONAR. So something happened when porting TTS-1 to 64 bit. Seems there's a few plugins from various vendors back in the day that suffered from 64 bit porting, of which none were ever fixed. I'm pretty sure you and I have different views on this, but if you're referring to TTS-1, Cakewalk has stated explicitly that it is "not supported." They do this for very few plug-ins, and I think it means that they may have tried to get it to work reliably but were unable to before being told by Roland to cease distributing it. So the answer to "why not use it" is "because many users have reported issues with it and there's a decent chance that there will be more issues in the future, issues that have no chance of being addressed. So it's risky." 1
