Tinman Posted yesterday at 07:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:47 PM Having a bit of a problem with session drummer 3. I cannot get it to work at all. I am trying to get it to output MIDI so I can use it with A Roland D110 and Yamaha TG55. I find documentation on it to be of no help whatsoever in how to set it up. Seeing as in the VST properties I see both MIDI input and output I presume it is capable of sending a MIDI note when you trigger one of the instruments, unless I`m way off base. Any suggestions would be greatly received and appreciated. 🙂 Thanks
Chaps Posted yesterday at 07:58 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:58 PM Did you enable MIDI Output in the Insert Soft Synth Options? Just curious, why not just use a MIDI track to trigger external devices? Are you getting any sound from Session Drummer at all? Did you load a kit? Tinman Posted yesterday at 08:18 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 08:18 PM (edited) Thanks for the reply Chaps but doesnt appear to be in soft synths only appears in FX for some reason. I cannot get the plugin to do anything at all Edited yesterday at 08:38 PM by Tinman
Chaps Posted yesterday at 08:54 PM Share Posted yesterday at 08:54 PM Here is what I suggest doing. In the Session Drummer window, open the Plug-in Settings and click Plug-In Properties. In that window you can select Enable as plug-in, Configure as synth, or both. If you don't enable Configure as synth you won't be able to insert is as a synth. If you don't enable Enable as plug-in you won't be able to insert it in the FX bin.
Amberwolf
BTW, if all you want to do is use the patterns in it to drive your other drum synth, just drag the pattern from the + button to your midi track that outputs to that other synth, after setting the number of bars you want the clip to have. Some patterns have more bars available than others, I usually set it to 16 and just trim off anything that's empty afterward, because I want the complete pattern for anything that's long (haven't had any >16 so far). Bass Guitar
When you say that you can’t get it to do anything at all that implies you’re not doing something right. Basics are it needs a kit loaded to make sound. Then you can feed it midi data from a track or from hardware like a drum machine or a keyboard controller. Midi data might also need to be using the correct midi channel. Then drum sounds might be assigned to different drum maps. Example C2 may or may not be a kick drum. Then there’s some patterns that you also need to pick and load. I can’t remember if those send out midi data. I don’t think SI drums does. I don’t think playing the kit with a mouse does either? I haven’t tried that yet myself.
