TVR PRODUCTIONS
I am in the proces of transferring all of my old cassette multitracks to individual digital files. This will be my last project using Cakewalk by Bandlab. While my old multitrack deck has 8 outputs, I am limited to the 4 inputs of my Audio interface This means I have to make two passes for each song. I sync them up in Cakewalk so that they are all in time with eachother. I do not want to save the Cakewalk roject because I will not be using Cakewalk again after this. I do want to export each out to individual tracks. All tracks are highlighted. I click on Export then select wav and get no dialog window whatsoever. Did I just waste my time doing this? What is happening? I am signed in so I am not sure why I am getting this. Edited Sunday at 06:15 PM by TVR PRODUCTIONS
David Baay
Sounds like your activation has expired and is not renewable. I haven't been keeping track of CbB deadlines, but IIRC October 1 was the last opportunity to reactivate. While the project is still open you can retrieve copies of the recorded WAV files from the project's audio folder or from the global Audio Data folder if it's a new project from template that was never saved.
Amberwolf
Since it isn't activated, it can't save or export. As noted above you can copy the wave files out of your audio folder before closing the program, assuming your system isn't locked down enough to prevent access to them. If all you are using it for is recording the tracks in, and nothing else, you could use the free version of Sonar the same way you are using CbB, but for simplicity's sake I would recommend a free program such as Audacity, which is also available for MacOS to use with your mini. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/multi_channel_recording.html Edited Sunday at 09:00 PM by Amberwolf
msmcleod
I'll plus one @Amberwolf's suggestion - use the free version of Sonar rather than CbB. If you've literally done nothing to the waveforms, you can select all of the clips, then drag them to a folder in Windows Explorer. Be sure to extend the left hand of the clip to 1:01:000 before doing so however. If you've only got 4 inputs, for the 8 track I'd recommend doing it in 3 passes: Pass 1: Tracks 1-4 Pass 2: Tracks 4-7 Pass 3: Tracks 7 & 8 With two copies of track 4, you can select all of the clips in pass 2 and nudge them together so that the waveforms in both track 4's line up exactly. Same with the clips in pass 3 (using the two copies of track 7). You can then delete the duplicate track 4 / track 7.

Im sure you were aware that you were on borrowed time for the end of life of Cakewalk. For such a simple task I m wondering why you would have chosen to use it. Hopefully it was just one song and not a lot more. As said above, before you close the project you have options to easily salvage the audio files. Once you close I think it’s all gone but it might be still in the audio folder. Might be in the temporary global audio folder.
