I can pay smaller amounts and buy these Or I can pay a lot more and get this....the above is fine if your pottering around at home. Once you get into being paid to provide a service you're gonna want the best toolkit you can afford so you're not stuck without the right tool for a certain job. I kind of like this analogy, but I'm also a little mixed on it. A lot of craftsman will often buy the very best tool from whichever brand makes the best of each particular type of tool, rather than just a manufacturer that is able to sell them all. Much like the stock tools in the DAW are a complete toolkit, they're often not the best option for all of them (although some stock plugins are often seriously overlooked gems!). I would say Omni is a caliber above stock plugins of course, but I look at it more not as in spending less, but spending the same amount as you could on Omni, on options that surpass some of Omni's functions and add breadth to the options when they might be on par. Same with the car analogy. From my limited use of it and all the demos and walkthroughs I've seen, I'm not sure I'd personally class it as a Ferrari, but instead more an XL, or Sports Edition, or something. I think Omni is a really good tool, but not orders of magnitude higher than the others and not in the same way that a Ferrari is a whole lot more horsepower, design and quality than an average comparison. But I can see the convenience of having very capable options in the one tool for speed and simplicity, especially when you're on the clock. Even for staying in the creative flow there's a case for it too. Unless you have a shortlist of go to best in breed options that you know like the back of your hand as well, as then you stay in zone anyway. That's not to say I'll never buy it.. I think it seems really good and interesting. I might get bored one day and pick it up anyway, but for that price, there's no real gap it fills (for me) to justify spending that much in today's market and even less so with the alternate options I already have for it. Also, $169 for the upgrade from O1 or 2 but you cannot use the GROUP code on the upgrade. Still that's a $30 saving on the Spectrasonics price. I often see comments on forums and think "this person doesn't actually make music with these products". Also - Falcon's synth engine is lifeless and cold af. At no point am I reaching for Falcon (or Halion) for anything to do with analog synthesis. Not in a million years. There are literally free synths on the market (Surge XT) I would reach for first lol. (Edit: This is unfair - Surge XT is incredible considering it's free - it shouldn't be mocked for it's price. It could easily compete with synths costing $200. Although learning curve is steeeeeeeeep. Created by the guy behind Bitwig.) I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm genuinely trying to understand how a VST can be double the price of comparable power synths. What feautures does Omnisphere have that Falcon or Halion doesn't? I know @Mark Morgon-Shaw mentioned the amount of presets included, but what is is it actually better at?
Fleer Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM I see Falcon as the magical wand for my UVI Sonic Bundle. Quite comparable to Omnisphere 2 that I haven’t been using for years, nor Keyscape, partly because of Falcon. Still, I will upgrade. Who knows what the future brings.

Cecelius2
Thanks. Just ordered the upgrade for $169. Thanks for posting this option. [I just contacted jrrshop and can confirm that they only offer the shipped version and cannot provide serial numbers electronically.] Now I am watching for the USPS.
