rsinger
I like their fx and have wanted an fx version of Omnisphere like Z3ta. I like that they now have an fx rack - the cherry on top. I'll be upgrading.
antler
Is that the one and only price it is/will ever be sold at (as per Spectrasonics' no-discounts rule), or is there some kind of intro-discount? I may have missed something, but I'm guessing it's the former? Edited Thursday at 07:59 PM by antler

I’ve not used Halion but I've got Falcon 3 and it’s great. Super deep, and it’s the only platform for a few libraries I use regularly like Bohemian Violin and Cello. But honestly, it’s not a patch (pun intended) on Omnisphere as an all around tool for a working composer. Falcon ships with around 1,600 factory presets, whereas Omnisphere 3 comes with over 41,000 patches now apprarently (including 26k+ new ones). That’s an enormous, curated library ready to drop straight into cues but still with a ton of tweakability. Falcon’s more of a modular sound design environment and brilliant if you want to build but a lot of us don't have time for that. Omnisphere’s designed to deliver - and when you’re working to deadlines, that scale and immediacy make a massive difference. You talk about cost but I look at value. I wouldn't expect Omnisphere 3 to go on sale for a year or two. Sales don't seem to be predictable ...
kitekrazy1
I guess in their defense they didn't try to have more frequent paid upgrades. I thought about getting it one day but disk space is another story. It's never cheap when you have to buy it. This is also a small developer. Assuming that the CPU hit isn't horrendous I might end up dumping a lot of my plugins.

Martin Schiff
The thing that bugs me about Omisphere 3 is that they made such a big deal about supporting MPE, and yet (according to their support) there are NO patches that are enabled for MPE out of the box. To use it, you have to program it to respond to MPE. I have a number of other synths that have MPE supported patches right out of the box, and some like Equator that have total support. I will probably upgrade though 🤦🏻♂️ There goes another 64Gb of drive space. They say it’s the same size due to compression

But if you need to haul a bunch of big cargo or get several kids around to various events, the Lamborghini probably isn't going to be all that useful. Each tool in it's place, misused as thoroughly as possible, without breaking it....
