Plugin Manager Issue

Hello: I'm trying to get this one plugin to show up on my list.  I've gone in to the Plugin Manager and added it....saved it. Went back to my track screen to select it, but it doesn't show as an option under "guitar" which is where I placed and saved it.  Anyone had this issue? Appreciated any suggestions.

Thanks

How did you "add" it? Did you run the plug-in scanner?

The issue is not on the Track screen. Its on the Manage Plugin screen. Its not saving it where I can use it on the Track screen.

Okay, I'm confused, because you posted "but doesn't appear on the track page where I can add it to a track".  I, for one, and unclear as to what exactly you are doing or what you are seeing. Anyway, good luck.

Let me trying to say it this way:

I added an audio track

I'm trying to ad an FX.

I then go under "Guitar" to add a certain FX.  Its not there

I then go to Plugin Layout Manager

I select the plugin I want and Add it to the  Plugin Menu Layout.

Then, I save it

I then go back to my track and try to add this plugin.

Its NOT there. Even after I saved it in the Plugin Menu Layout

why is this happening?

I'll bet its user error, but I can't figure this one out.

Its listed in the plugin layout manager. I then add it to my plugins. But nothing shows up when trying to load it on a track.  I've just reinstalled it and still nothing.  The plugin is Kontakt.  It was there before, then it went away for some reason.

Well: I found it.  It was loaded within the Virtual Instruments tab under strings and not in the FX tab.  Oh Well...learn something new every day.   Thanks to all of your for your time.

(1) I used to use plugin layouts, but I found out that I can usually find the plugin I want by using the Sort by Manufacturer as my default and if necessary using a keyword in the search box. (2) I don't  use Kontakt but it makes sense that a guitar would be under Instrument not FX.  FWIW some of my synth / instrument plugins can function as instruments and as FX to process audio from other sources.  Not sure if Kontakt is like that; but if it is, it would make sense that it could be coded as an instrument and/or FX.

In any case glad to see you found where it is.

On a new build after you get all the audio and stuff sorted out I open the VST tab in preferences and add all the none default pathways.
I tell it to scan and then set it to manual.

Using just a blank project I open the Browser and then open the FX list. There will mostly be just included plugins listed correctly. The rest will be in the “Uncategorized” folder . I Move them as well as I create a few custom folders.

I repeat this process for the instruments.

I’ve heard of plugins that get mixed up with if they are effects or instruments but I’ve personally never had that happen.

Sonars plug in manager is very overly complicated and outdated. After I saw that they fixed that in Next I was surprised to see that it’s still not updated.

some plugins have more than a single category, some have none. i think the plugin manager does a decent job of figuring out what goes were, but there are plenty of plugins i need to reorganize to get settled where i want them. so i have fx/instrument labels bass, drums, guitar, piano, organ, synth, vocals, etc. and i'll move the fx and instruments to those categories instead of simply leaving them in the EQ, Delay, Dynamics, etc. so finding my preferred fx/instruments is fast without needing custom plugin menus. but some plugins, they just cannot define by their name. e.g. "DynEQPanner" 🙂 really guys?

i find the Sonar plugin manager works just fine, and if you do your regular maintenance on your plugins when you install new ones (like excluding the VST2 versions (which i leave installed, just in case), and categorizing  them right away. it's no bother. i probably spend 8-10 minutes per month organizing in the plugin manager and the fx/instrument browser - check that updated VST are showing up,  didn't change the exclusions or categories, and usually a quite test in a blank project.
