Ralias Howl
Hey there, I used LMMS for a bit when I didn't have a higher end PC and I really enjoyed ZynAddSubFX from it. I downloaded the standalone synth and added it's directory to Cakewalk's VST scan criteria, but it doesn't seem to pick up any "new" plugins from it in neither the Synth or FX sections of the plugin library. The version of ZASF I'm using is the og 2006-7 version that last got updated in 2022, so it's format should be recognized by Sonar... unless I'm looking at it all wrong? Should I download the unofficial classic VST instead?
Sooreaver1997
I think the problem is that the standalone synth is not a VST, so Sonar won't recognize it in the plugin directory. You need to make sure you download the VSTi (a .dll file) and put it in the VST folder that Sonar is scanning. Also, the unofficial classic VST you mentioned works fine with DAWs like Sonar, so you can try downloading and installing that. Remember to re-run the rescan command in Sonar to make sure it updates the plugin list. Edited 3 hours ago by Sooreaver1997
Wookiee
@Ralias Howl as noted by @Sooreaver1997 you need the VST plugin version of a synth for it to work, in any DAW. A standalone is exactly what it says, it is standalone, independent of a host.
