I have been using it since cakewalk 5.0, but the current version is very bad to set up on the main editor tool! adays, there are too many impractical tools, unlike the old 8.0 version, where one selection tool and one brush tool can satisfy almost all the work. However, the current tools, in order to achieve a function, you have to frequently switch between different tools, for example: after writing a note with the brush tool, if you want right-click to view its properties, it becomes the delete tool and deletes the note! Many of these kinds of inconveniences that should not happen become obstacles

Note Properties is double-click now. I also preferred right-click, but I guess Bakers felt that facilitating Delete was more important.

Beyond that, Smart tool can do just about everything. I know some old-timers preferred the earlier tool impementation for writing music in the PRV. I've always recorded everything in real time with a minimum of editing needed, and there's been a lot of water under the bridge since Sonar 8, so I don't recall all the differences. What specific workflow is requiring you to switch tools?
