Steve Moddelmog
THIS is exactly why I don't like subscription software. My paid subscription just renewed for the year last month. New (September) version of Sonar appeared today and I installed it. Now it tells my "this version of Sonar has expired," and furthermore, it tells me to get a subscription! Under a permanent license, if an update has an issue, you just install the last working version and go about you music-making. I will reach out to support, but in the meantime I'm out of luck suing Sonar.
Michael m. Heaphy
Same problem here , Steve, even with the free version...I can not activate it...must be some kind of glitch that, hopefully, will correct itself

Steve Moddelmog
So I installed August update over today's September update and got the same error messages. But then I installed the second August update and all is working. Dare I try the September update again?
Tim Elmore
Same problem here. After I installed the September update 2025.09 (build 025) this morning, I was able to run Sonar with a project, close Sonar, and then restart it later with no issue. However, I tried to start Sonar a few minutes ago and now have the same problem as shown above. My license is only about two months old. It was supposed to be for a one-year subscription.

Siro
Same here, using free layer. This morning I updated it, and just now, after saving a whole day’s work, I thought: “Okay, I’ll open it again for just a moment, do an export, and then I’m done.” To my surprise—and a bit of panic—it locked me out, saying the version has expired, that it’s not activated, and that it won’t export.
Will.
Why is everyone so quick to screaming my "everything is screwed." Give the servers time. Close the DAW, wait 5 mins launch it again and do another Check for UPDATE but give the servers some time to kick in.
Steve Moddelmog
Interestingly, I'm no longer being offered the September update.
David Swinson
Not quick to scream everything is screwed but just lost a project because I have been trying to resolve this issue for almost 4 hours
Matt Jenkins
I too am having the same issue. I mean, not allowing people to save is a ridiculous built in protocol. Just gonna toss the towel for tonight
Sailor55
Same thing here. Just updated. Can't authenticate. Can't save. Can't say I' m too happy either...
lmu2002
Seems that it's more than just five minutes. Well, luckily I had nothing urgent going on.
Andrey_rbk
I have exactly the same problem too. I need to work, but I can’t log in.
Andrey_rbk
If anyone suddenly needs to work urgently, you can roll back to version 2025.08. You need to go to the "Cakewalk Product Center" and opposite Cakewalk Sonar select Dowloand and Update. After this, version 2025.08 will be installed and activated. Ashwin Rao
Hi Everyone, Our apologies, our engineers are aware of this issue and are working to rectify the upcoming September build. If you're currently on the 2025.09 build, please revert to 2025.08 by accessing Product Center and selecting 'Download and Update' under Cakewalk Sonar. Installing this should get you back to version 2025.08 If you're unable to obtain 2025.08, please refer to the link here for the download. Once installed, sign in with your BandLab account to reactivate. If you're still experiencing issues, please contact us at support@cakewalk.com. Thank you!
Cognessence
None of the above methods work, unfortunately. The download won't install (keeps saying I have the wrong version of Sonar, even though I followed the above steps) and the first method (accessing Product Center and selecting 'Download and Update) doesn't stop me being locked out either. I paid for a year subscription. I got up early to finish a cue to a deadline, and now can't export it. This is quite disastrous for the project I'm on. I really can't afford for something like this to happen. :-( Edited Wednesday at 08:53 AM by Cognessence
msmcleod
The link @Ashwin Rao posted is a link to the update installer. This won't work if you've already installed 2025.09. The full installer for 2025.08 can be found here
BobXX
It works only after updating the installer THEN downgrading Sonar with 2025-08 version Edited Wednesday at 10:36 AM by BobXX
Jonathan Sasor
Build 025, was not intended to be released yesterday, and was only available for a brief window. This is why the version was deactivated. This build has now been superseded by 31.09.0.036 which is formally released. We apologize for the inconvenience.
