CSistine
I just noticed that SSL supports now only installation with their IM (they're not the only company doing this). That's quite crazy for an iLok company IMHO! This 10-doubles the system resources (and time) required to install one single plugin. Why do the young generation university people always make our life so troublesome and elaborately? That's why I had to assemble my own zip files for installation on my offline system! Mad! 3
Craig Fowler
I'll see you SSL (which I agree sucks for installation) and raise you a Fitbit. Took over an hour to get my wife's set up - my daughter's Samsung band and my Garmin took < 5 mins! 1
locrian
What you're talking about is RI, and it's happening everywhere. This video nicely describes how it has impacted our lives.
kitekrazy1
This thread should be in the coffee house. I could break the net about how stupid tech is in every industry. I pretty much despise most developers. That attitude is mostly outside the DAW world. Browsers basically suck in the desktop environment. If all of these ideas are to reduce piracy I think it encourages it.
Release
Is this more of a PC issue? I'm on a Mac and these installers are rarely, if ever, an issue for me. Personally, I'd much rather have a single installer for multiple plugins than have to do the same thing over and over if you have more than 5 from any developer. If I had to install everything one by one I'd probably never update anything.
chris.r
This link is still working: https://support.solidstatelogic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4849510029085-SSL-and-Harrison-plug-in-downloads#01H8P0B02JB4JCFSWXKN24MY1T not sure if these are the most recent versions though. And I agree, not the easiest way to find it on the SSL website.

This is true for me if there are only install managers, because each time I open the IM, first, it has to update itself, then I have to search the thing to install, then most of them install very slowly, then they install to locations other than I use or they install things that I don't want, i.e. I have to do changes manually, then I have to do the whole thing on my 2 other pcs, too, what a pain!

Often the issue is with the installer. I've deleted everything UAD because their app runs in System startup. Plus it's apples and oranges when it comes to sample libraries. Then there a those who archive their purchases and don't want to download again. Once again it's about leaving the end user with choice
