brandon Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I understand that the PRS and other societies require recordings to be embedded with the members ISRC code. Is this something that can be done in Sonar and if so could someone advise how? Thank you.
Bass Guitar Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I do believe that this is a feature of a wave editor like Wave Lab. Not sure if Audacity can. Sound Forge? Gold Wave?
Helios.G Posted September 11 Posted September 11 This is something you should be getting from your distributor (distrokid, cdbaby, etc), or your PRO (performance rights organization) or you can get them on your own at the official isrc site (https://isrc.ifpi.org/en/get-isrc)... That said, the easiest path is with your distributor, good luck.
brandon Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Am surprised Cake/Sonar cant do this as on the face of it it seems something quite simple. Has anyone on here ever done it before?

Wayne Severson Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Here is a simple IRSC Editor, it's free. Sonoris ISRC Editor (free) download Windows version I tried to place a link, but it won't stick? Just search google Edited September 11 by Wayne Severson 1
Glenn Stanton Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) first you need the ISRC code. then you need to export the WAV as a Broadcast WAV (which has header space allocated for information), and then as Wayne suggested (and i was also about to) use an editor like WaveLab or a free product like https://www.sonorissoftware.com/product/isrc-editor/ to add t he IRSC (and likely other IDv3 metadata) into the Broadcast WAV file. easy peasy. it's the way the professionals do it as well. brandon Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 (edited) Thank you. Am surprised that Sonar doesnt allow this function to be performed within the programme if its as easy as it sounds. Does it allow UPCs to be added too and other trackable codes? Edited September 12 by brandon

Because it is not mastering software like Wavelab, even though the same company.

The more code you ask for in your application the more bugs you get. Keep it simple. A professional engineer will be using the correct software to master with. That is rarely going to be a DAW. And as @Helios.G said that is part of what you pay for when you upload your songs to a distributor. Possibly even Bandlab offers this as part of the membership fee. It is generally not something recording engineers would concern themselves with so not even on the radar of Daw development. 3
