I wonder what the future of SampleTank is.  Ik dropped Sampletron 2 (which I love), Syntronik and Mixbox,  I hope that ST isn't next on the list.

Well hopefully, if so, they release a new (and better) replacement that will still run the old samples

I remember they announced the end of Mixbox which is software (as opposed to sounds/libraries), but with Sampletron 2 and Syntronik, did they drop the programs/software AND the libraries, or just the programs/software?  I am not clear on that.

Another way of asking more or less the same thing is, when someone now gets the current version of ST4 MAX (or is it now ST4 MAX v.2?), does it include the Sampletron and Syntronic sounds/libraries?

Based on what I read, my understanding is that the latest incarnation of Total Studio (TS MAX 5, IIRC), does not include the Mixbox, Sampletron, and Syntronik software/programs, but does TS MAX 5 include the Sampletron and Syntronik sounds/libraries?

IMPORTANT: Not looking for speculation, guesses, what's listed on the website or what's on the version comparison charts; looking to hear from people who did not have Sampletron and Syntronik before and who purchased TS MAX 5.

Thanks.

My understanding is no. But Peter would be best to answer that.

If this was for ST 4 Max, I would totally jump on this to fill out the rest of my missing libraries.

I get a lot of juju out of ST and really like using it. I dont get the hate for it.

Both the applications/plugins and the libraries from those (Syntronik and SampleTron 2) were discontinued and are not in Total Studio 5 MAX nor SampleTank 4 MAX now.

But will they still work the latest SampleTank 4 if we have those 2 libraries from a previous purchase? I've been avoiding the latest update because it's unclear to me.

It does for me.

@IK Multimedia - any insight on why those products were discontinued?   They really weren't that old.

What's worse is they were some of the better ones. SampleTron  in particular I really like. While there is a lot of filler in Syntronik, it actually has some great sounds too.

This would weaken the value proposition of future Total Studio bundles for me personally.

It often makes me more cautious of buying from companies when they discontinue products like this as well, as I get less faith in their products being viable for long term. With pulling MixBox too it seems there is a lot of instability in future direction when buying IK at the moment.

It probably makes sense to them, their roadmap and future direction, but as a customer I'm not inclined to jump onto products that might become sinking ships when there are alternatives that have a lower risk in that regard.

Yes. but i got those libs long time ago, way before they were discontinue.

The only thing that is breaking on my end is that dragging  midi from ST into FL studio channel rack stopped working in FL 2025. Also, typing in search bar in ST seems to be broken in FL 2025. Both AU and VST. But it all works fine in FL 2024. So I have no clue if its an Image Line problem or a IK update. Sitting and waiting for next FL update to see if it all gets fixed.

Yeah, it would be cool if IK did a YT video showing a road map for future so customers get some better understanding of why certain (fairly new to the market) products just got shut down.

My guess is, IK have decided to not spend any more resources on updating and maintaining instrument products  and decided to focus on guitar products and audio recording products. Who knows.

Totally agree, i honestly think that they can only get away with it because their products are so cheap, but you end up not being able to take these products seriously (not for being cheap but because of their lifespan).

synthtronik 2 was released at the end of 2021, and the first version in 2017, as a term of comparison, omnisphere was released in 2008 and omnisphere 2 in 2015 and still going

Several weeks ago my C Drive had to be emptied and re-formatted as a boot drive, and while I had no intention of reinstalling gazillions of IK Software and Sounds, last night I started to install a number of my prior IK purchases.   So, because I previously purchased licenses (and with great thanks to IK for removing the 180 day download restriction!!!!!), I can verify that I was able to re-install SampleTron 2 (software and sounds). And, yes, I just had to play the opening notes to Strawberry Fields.  🙂 Syntronik 2 also works--though I still need to make room for all the Sound Content as well as make time.  MixBox (which I installed a couple of weeks ago) reinstalled and also works as far as I tested (just some basic operations).

As expected, all the non-discontinued IK products that I have re-installed so far also work.

corrected typing error (was "licensed licenses")
