8Dio Majestica Ultra @ $49 - Thoughts??

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a decent full orchestra library (that won't break the bank or take up more than 80GB).

I stumbled across 8Dio Majestica and it looks pretty good for the price. Anyone have any experience with this one? Is it any good, or should I avoid it?

https://8dio.com/products/majestica?variant=42994912985288

I welcome any other similar recommendations you may have. Some of the other libraries I looked at today (Sonuscore The Orchestra, Project SAM Symphobia, Impact Soundworks Palette Orchestra Complete) seem to be around the $300 range, which is a little more than I'm willing to spend at this time.

Thanks,

fj

I have it and like it (not Ultra) and I also have 8W Version (formerly exclusive version).  It can be useful in the proper setting...very tweakable also being Kontakt
driven.  It's certainly not the best, and it won't be as fast as things like "The Score" or "The Orchestra", but if you do Orchestra, and know what your doing, it can
be decent.

I think today is the last day to get East West Fantasy Orchestra with the 10% off with code LABORDAY2025 at APD if that interests you

I'm not really a fan of Majestica.  It has its place, but it is loud, bombastic, and generally noisy.    8 Dio is.....well, 8 Dio.   And I have a lot of their libraries.

Do you have any orchestral libraries at all yet?   If not, I would suggest starting with Spitfire's BBCO Discover.  Its actually really good, and provides a good start in that ecosystem - its upgradable to Core, then Pro.   Oh, and its free.

Another good option (though it is much more than 80 GB) is the EastWest Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition (which is the standard orchestra, not the Fantasy Orchestra that Larry mentioned).   You can get it direct from EastWest right now for $224 (with the code LaborDay).   That is a great deal - a ton of content for not that much.

Thanks Larry.

I did have a look East West Fantasy Orchestra, and it looked interesting, but I'm looking for more of a traditional orchestra lib. And it looks huge to boot.

Thanks Husker.

I do have BBCO discover and it does soud great, but a little limited in articulation options. I didn't realize that there's an upgrade path to Core from this though. I just assumed there wasn't one because of it being free.

I looked at that one as well, and would be the one I want from EastWest, but I could not find out how muck drive space I would need for it. It's probably way too big, but I just don't know.

Didn't see that option. Includes Majestica Ultra with a bunch of other stuff! Definitely the way to go, if I go with 8Dio.

Thanks for pointing it out.

And it looks like I may be able to get an extra 15% off with it being my first purchase. Although it may not be applicable to an already discounted item.

Yeah, it is! I'm REALLY considering this. It's a bundle that includes other bundles.

It is...only 10% for me but it made it $66.60

Done! And the 15% code worked to bring it down to $62.90. Awesome deal!! I won't be installing everything now due to size, but good to have. I'll also be taking a hard look at what I'm really not using to see if I can clear more space that way too.

Thanks again @cclarry and @husker for your help. I really appreciate it

You may want to look at the Amadeus Symphony Orchestra @ $149. Most of the common articulations, small footprint.

I use it a lot to sketch in orchestration then revoice with my bigger better libraries.

Thanks for the recommendation! I already took the plunge with the 8Dio deal, but I appreciate you weighing in.

I think I paid $125 for Insolidus a couple of years ago and I thought it was a good deal.  This is nuts.  I am still trying to get my head around Choir Omnia from the K15 bundle but Insolidus (and Silka) sound more natural to my ears.

Good score, FJ!

I know I'm late, but IMO if you want all the orchestral instruments (+choirs, pianos, drums, world instruments etc.) Musio is the best value. It's been as low as $149. I'm guessing that deal will be back on Black Friday. They've even added mic positions to the orchestral instruments.
