Cognessence
I'm a long time user of Cakewalk, having been with the program since Home Studio 9. I generally found the old free Cakewalk by BandLab very stable. It hardly ever crashed, and everything worked as I'd hope. And whilst it's true that saying something generally "has a lot of bugs" isn't so helpful in ironing them out, there are honestly so many hiccups and bizarre behaviours going on since I switched to the new Sonar (and I'm doing the paid option) that I don't know where to begin. Crashes, things copying and pasting in strange ways, projects having random changes when I open them again (the last two to happen were sudden lost / clearly broken automation upon re-opening a project - something I am certain I didn't do - and even more strangely, suddenly all tracks being routed to a new soundless output - I had NOT done that either!) - and generally crashes where the program simply has to close. David Baay
Not the typical experience. As strongly as you might feel that Sonar has issues, I bet the vast majority of what you've encountered has an identifible root cause that is not a bug. In particular, anything that's not easily reproducible is likely not a bug. Most of the reproducible issues I know of in Sonar have been with us since CbB or earlier. And any new ones that have cropped up have been addressed pretty promptly, but you need to be able to reproduce them with some level of consistency.

I'll admit I wrote the O.P in a bit of a frustrated state after a few crashes, it is true. Normally I like to be more constructive, and there are still many great things about Sonar. In some ways I regret the O.P now! Such are the effects of a deadline, lack of sleep, and software crashing just when you need to deliver cues. You're probably right in that many of these bugs are in fact old (except the trouble I'm having with view/zoom settings, but I've reported that.) Thanks again for your post. David Baay
I hear you. I've definitely had days when Sonar seemed especially uncooperative, but ultimately it turns out to be either my own mistake/misunderstanding or something going on with 3rd-party hardware, drivers or plugins. I'm still trying to figure out why so many are reporting problems with view persistence. There definitely seems to be something going on there. but I'm not seeing any problems in the latest update. I think some of them are actually cases of people not understanding Workspaces and screensets or something to do with the free tier not giving access to Workspaces where CbB did.
