Samplitude and Sequoia are now under BorisFX and they have released new versions but sadly
even if you own a current version it doesn't show up, so you have no way to upgrade despite the
fact that they offer an upgrade.  Very poorly thought out transition IMO.

Agree. Site says to contact support which I've done to ask if Samplitude 2025 is still basically the current X8 version and whether the serial number needs registered with this site.

I'm guessing this offering of the OP is a repackaging of the Magix Restoration Suite plugs?

That's kind of what I was checking for too. It shows the upgrade prices, but not anything under downloads / orders. I wonder if it's being transitioned, otherwise I suspect if you wanted to upgrade you might be able to contact support.

I tried registering my X8 Suite Serial # and it said INVALID and that I needed to upgrade.
In the BorisFX installer you have to go the "Settings" menu (little gear upper left) and click
"Activate Serial #".

Thanks L, while I have some Boris products installed, I don't have the installer! I'll check it out.

I'm not sure really.. That branding has been around for a very long time doing similar stuff, but I'm not familiar with them.

It's possible they are incorporating some of the algorithms or tech into them now though.

But they have existed for at least 15 years or so it seems:

rare does an end user ever benefit from these acquisitions

the only one I can recall is Yamaha taking over Steinberg

Anything Image Line has acquired, UVI, Melda, WA, they don't interfere

BTW from glimpses Music Maker may be an underrated DAW

While I would normally agree with that, I'm not too sure in this situation. It seems that most people seem to think that development and bugfixes have been pretty slow with Samplitude, so in this case it might even be the exception. They have said they have more developers / resources for it, so who knows.. time will tell I guess.

I think I even have Music Maker and haven't installed it yet! We're spoilt for choices these days.

Magix has often had some weird and heavy handed restrictions on some of their products. I almost never use loops, so I'm OK with restrictions on that, but if I buy something, then I always want no restrictions on one-shot samples at least. I think Music Maker might have been one of the more restrictive ones from memory, which is why I wasn't in a hurry to install.

They are one of 2 that ever had this loop restriction and I never really cared for their loops as I have so many of them.

What I mean by underrated is that it is a real DAW once you bypass their loops. This is one of their products that actually has video instruction.  They also come with their own vst soundsets.

I decided to buy the 2026 upgrade from Magix just to see where this goes.

It will be interesting to see how Boris handles this.   2 machines license is outdated as well.

Hi - you bought the upgrade from Magix not Boris? Just interested.

I have had Samplitude for quite a few years - got it when we were all a little unsure what was happening to Sonar after the Gibson mess. i have never really gotten around to using it.

I might upgrade, but does anyone know what type of authorisation they are using? - if it's the "phone home" type, I really want to try and move away from that, as if for any reason the Company disappears and you can't "phone home", your product stops working!!

hard to find those anymore -if it has a universal installer app then it's rare for offline authorization

yep products stop working - all Sony products can't be authorized anymore. I tried it with Soundforge 10.

Perfect Disk doesn't either.

I tend to think this is going to be a loss for Boris.  Did you check their upgrade prices?  Not even close to competing in a saturated market.

The Magix deals for Samp upgrade included Spectral Layers and Soundforge
