I disagree.

Most delays in a DAW do not offer the sound and simplicity of a basic guitar pedal delay.  Haven't used this yet, but seems like it might actually do that.

Ah, guess I'm spoiled by Logic and Live.  Also, I figure many of us have lots of delay options already.  But, yes, this could be the plugin that someone needs.  Still odd for them to spend time on this when several other plugins were promised updates for over a year.

That is closer to Strymon delay tweak ability.

 

I'm thinking more time, feedback, level with an on off switch (and maybe a mod on off button). 😁

 

(and I also have quite a few plugin delays, but honestly most of them simply do not work like an old school guitar pedal - or they don't sound like one).  The only delay plugin I actually like is the Audiority Echorec and it is pretty complex and cpu hungry.

Getting off topic, but Arturia's Delay BRIGADE is pretty easy to dial in and can go deeper with the advanced options.

Another plugin maker making things needlessly complicated.

Own a real Deluxe Memory Man and it doesn't have anywhere close to that many options/knobs/switches, though if you ignore the "new stuff" it is fine.

Gave it a quick demo.  Easy to use and a very nice highly resizable interface.  I'd argue that the repeats are certainly ok but do not sound like actual tape (or BBD) degradation as the feedback repeats continue if you are used to legitimate hardware.

That said, I certainly find the interface and ease of use better than quite a few paid options out there.

I only gave it a very quick test and found it pretty decent sounding too,, especially for a freebie.

I don't necessarily think it's all that unusual a choice either. He's probably just testing the waters and looking at expanding their offerings. Their prices are often on the higher side and they have no runs on the board when it comes to creative effects really, so a free one out of the gates might help them.

I tend to skip most of their stuff as their pricing is hardly ever competitive. The stuff is OK I just never feel it quite warrants the higher prices over the competition in today's market.

Definitely not bad for free!  Not something I need, as I have plenty!  Supermassive being my favorite freebie delay/reverb.

Agreed. Great freebie and no, I doubt anyone on this forum for the most part needs another delay! But it's always nice having other options. Sometimes even just for the creative ideas they could inspire.

Supermassive is brilliant. As are (I think?) all of Valhalla's plugins.  Simple offline key file activation for the paid ones that doesn't require a server to be online, so as long as the software can run on future systems, then you can always activate.. Fair prices all year round with no sales tricks. No subscription BS. Great developer.

Will give that vid you shared a watch too 🙂

delays are my favourite plug ins, can't have enough of them, imo,

most of them aren't that great, as said above the echorec is v good, I like the pulsar one,

I also have some analog delay boxes and plugins come no where near for the sound quality, even though they are very basic,

I have a korg sdd 2000 which is great, uad have the software sdd3000 which should sound similar as its digital but I would bet the hardware sounds 

that bit better.
