Pancho
Due to the lack of multi-output support and the inability to adjust the kick drum's pitch, Nepheton 2 may not be the most suitable choice for users seeking more flexible sound design options. kitekrazy1
I bought it since I'm a D-16 fan. They still do things the old way. No special app and has offline activation. Their GUIs use to be small but now they are huge
dubdisciple Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM I am torn. Do I really need another drum machine plugin?

Wibbles Posted yesterday at 11:10 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:10 AM (edited) I installed the original Nepheton, had a quick play around, couldn't figure out how to get it do to want I wanted, and then never used it again. The workflow was a pig. I went back to using Audiorealism's ADM, which I use for all my 606/808/909 (and drum sampler) needs. $19 seems a real bargain, but the number of "bargains" I've acquired for less than $20 dollars and never used is ridiculous. I highly doubt it 🤣 But I quite like it, especially for $19. Sometimes the different workflows trigger different ideas. It's also interesting to see how they got the sounds with the processing used. It's quite eye opening disabling the entire FX chain for each sound and seeing what the raw samples sound like and then how much each FX alters it. From a learning perspective and from being able to more finely customize the sound it's handy and not something you get with drum samples. Some of the hits sound great out of the box though. I always init the patterns and create from scratch, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of those patterns are decent too. But I've been programming some patterns and then just dragging the MIDI from it, directly into its own track in Cubase and then disable Nepheton's internal sequencer and have Cubase trigger it. It's already inspired the basis for a new track, so for $19 I've already got enough fun out of it 🙂 2 1
Wibbles Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM In the end, I couldn't help myself. I was pleased to find that it cost me £15 including VAT. I've just got to remember to install it and actually use the thing. 1
ZincT Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM I'm seeing 35 € (around 30 UK pounds) in my account for Nepheton 2, possibly because I have Drumazon 1 (also the Drumazon 2 upgrade is still there for 29 €). I'm liking the demo of Nepheton 2 and the UI is much improved with scaling etc, but I'm thinking along the lines of @dubdisciple

We jut like to have these things and every DAW comes with these type of drum machines. The reality is we are too fascinated with not having our ideal 808 sound. dubdisciple Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM As a longtime cakewalk user, I received 808 samples from the original ROMs years ago when Roland owned Cakewalk. I have probably thousands of 808 samples from other sources. There is no logical reason to buy for the sound. What does interest me is workflow. I have Drumazon 1 and occasionally will use it and a barebones setup like Drumazon, Arturia Juno 106 and maybe one more vintage synth with minimal use of DAW features . I use old techniques like using the 909 sequencer to trigger bass lines.
