Interesting to open Cakewalk after some time away only to find that migration to Sonar is now inevitable. But since there is also now a free tier, I'm happy with that. It is a good solution. I can live without Workspaces, and with the pop-up at launch, and even with the strip near the top of the screen reminding me that I am cheap a valued guest.

Sonar hung on first launch, but it seems to launch reliably now.

I quickly learnt that where there is a crown icon then that's not for me. I like the new sharper look of things.

Normally that would be a typical marketing strategy but so far it’s been pretty quiet out there. 
It’s seems like there’s no budget for advertising.
