Shift Click Expands Horizontally & Shrinks Vertically

99% of the time, when I want to move a clip I will press Shift then Click and Drag the clip down to the take I'm comping to. But 1% of the time, I'll click Shift and I'm apparently doing something that:

1. Vertically expands the main track
2. Horizontally zooms in on the clip
3. Vertically shrinks all of the take lanes.

I scream every time because other than having to readjust everything, I don't know what I'm doing to cause that. Help?

While I don't know waht's causing it, I think there is an "undo view change" in one of the menus, and it should have a keybinding, too (but I don't recall what it is). That would at least put your view state back. (might take more than one operation of it). 

 

EDIT: What I suspect is causing it is accidentally starting your click -drag just outside the borders ofa  clip, so you are somehow engagng a zoom mode instead.
