Track Templates using vst instruments use incorrect input from previous instrument

Here's a random thing I've dealt with for a while. When I insert a track template that's something like one instrument track and one midi track, the instrument track's input is always the previous instrument's output.

For example I have a track template that inserts one instance of kontakt as an instrument track, and one midi track, all in one folder. The first time I insert the template, it's fine:

 

The second time I insert the same template, it tries to use the first instruments output:

 

And the third time, it will use the second instance's output:

 

It seems like all of my templates try to use the previous instrument input. I've re-saved templates and get the same thing.  Other plugins do the same thing.

Has anyone else had this too?

 

I'm in CbB 2024.12 (build 125, 64 bit) on windows 10.
