Probably not reverbs.  However, it is possible to have too many licence managers.....

People spent so much time complaining about iLok, which likely pushed many developers to create their own. Even though iLok isn't perfect, I preferred having just that for multiple developers instead of 40 gajillion license managers running all the time. Bring back iLok! There I said it! 🤣🤣🤣

How about we just go back to the simple serial number thing.

Type it in from your box or purchase email, and off you go, never to worry again.  No internet needed, no oops the server is down so I can't do my work that doesn't actualy need internet, no oops the ocmpany went out of business so now my thousands of dollars of software/synths/soundsets/plugins/etc. is garbage and i'm out of luck....

Anyone that actually wants to pirate something is going to do it, any group that wants to release pirate versions is going to do it, and the only ones that are stopped by any of this nonsense are the legitimate users.  :/

1000+

As I already have too many plugins, I have begun to collect almost plugins that follow the rule above!

You are so right that CR is primarily a burden for the legitimate user and I doubt that those CR companies sell more stuff because of that!

Me in any case, I hesitate to purchase plugins with CR nowadays. If it is pure online activation, then it is even a NO GO! And I agree with @Luc that if a company wants to protect their plugins, then I also prefer iLok.

Anyway, there are some big companies that missed 100s of dollars from me, because of their authorization and installation management (Waves, Universal, IK, NI, ...), where as I decided several times to support small developers with a user-friendly authorization!
