S Roy Choudhury
Hello all I recently reinstalled my OS and so installed Cakewalk afresh. I have an Audient iD22 as the audio interface. I am using Windows 10. I am an amateur and started exploring audio recording out of interest. I last tried Cakewalk about two years ago in my old system, and I had no problem recording music or vocals. The trouble I am having is with this new installation. Somehow, I am unable to record any vocals. Even after multiple tries, once or twice I can start the recording pressing the "R" key, but as soon as I try to play the metronome while recording, something goes wrong and the recording does not happen. My Microphone is attached to Input 1 of iD22, and I can see the levels changing as I arm the audio track, but there is no recording even after pressing the "R" button (metronome plays in the background). If I try to record in Audacity, everything works perfectly. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. If anyone can help me with this, it would be really helpful. Thank you all in advance, and apologies for such a newbie-like, messy question.
Amberwolf
What audio driver are you using for the microphone, in each program, and what are all the settings for each program's audio latency and buffers, etc? What is your audio playback device, and what driver is it using, in each program, and what are all the settings for each program's audio latency and buffers, etc? Sometimes the difference between working and not is the difference in a setting, or which driver is used. Checking what the differences are and then making them the same in the nonworking program as they were in the working program may make the nonworking program work. Do you have ASIO4all or any steinberg or magix ASIO drivers installed? (if so, remove those and see what happens--there are many threads discussing those, some with instructions on specific steps). S Roy Choudhury
Thank you for replying. I have the driver as provided by Audient on its official page. The Output is through ID22's headphone out (I'm using a pair of headphones, and I am getting the feedback properly). All drivers are set to ASIO. My input is set to Analogue 1+2 and output is set to Analogue 1+2 (headphones channel mirror this as I checked in iD22 settings). Somehow, I have found the problem but not the source yet. It seems that if I keep the metronome turned on, the recording starts about a minute later, though I do not know why it does so. Secondly, what is the difference between the small BPM display and the "Record Count-In" in beats under Project> Metronome? Thanks again.
Kurre Posted yesterday at 11:23 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:23 AM The "Record Count-In" under Project> Metronome should hopefully be "0" or "1". If it's double digits it would explain your recording problems.

If it's a condenser mic and you don't have phantom power engaged, the signal to CbB might not be high enough to be recorded.
S Roy Choudhury
Thank you all, the problem is resolved. It was due to my silly tinkering with the metronome setting and mistakenly interpreting BPM settings with Record Cut-in. I have successfully recorded and mixed a vocal. Thank you again.
