sclg
I'd appreciate some advice. I've been using an old copy of Cakewalk Sonar to send midi files to a digital classical organ for many years. This works fine, as do patch changes to change the stops as they all used Program Change commands with one command toggling off or on. A new organ uses sysex commands for stop changes though (with different commands for off and on) and I'm not sure how to handle this. I think I can manually enter a sysex data command in the Event View window but this would be laborious and error prone entering multiple 6 character sysex strings. I may be wrong but I don't think the "Insert bank/patch change" can cope with sysex?? Basically, I want something like selecting "Swell Flute 8 on" rather than manually entering "F0 31 40 02 02 F7" in the relevant place in the event list. Any ideas?? User 905133
It's been a while since I used sysex command to change settings, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately, while we can enter/load sysex byte chains as banks and we can name/rename them, in the Event List only the bank number can be inserted/edited. Sysex Bank List: Event List: Also, though I don't use Cakewalk's Articulation Maps, I looked them up in the Cakewalk Reference Guide and didn't find a way to do settings changes via sysex byte chains. Maybe someone else has some ideas that might work. Edited Saturday at 01:53 PM by User 905133 Edits

Promidi
Patch Change events are just that - Patch Change events. They are not sysex events. In your case, what you could do is create a sysex bank containing, for example, "F0 31 40 02 02 F7" using Sysx view. (ALT+SHIFT+7) Then save that bank as a Sysex file for future recall. Then, when ever you need this sysex string for a project, load it into a Bank (using Sysx view. ALT+SHIFT+7) - Make a mental note of the bank number. Then in event view, enter a Sysex Bank command - referring to the bank number you made a mental note of. I use sysex all the time for outboard gear and this in the method I use. Note: Articulation Maps cannot be used to manipulate or send sysex data. Edited Monday at 06:42 AM by Promidi
