I've never used Front DAW before, but based on vids that I've seen of it, it doesn't look like it compensates for gain automatically. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if it did. At least it has an output control. I don't think version 1 even had that.

Picked up Firemaster at Loot Audio. Cheaper than PB and just 40 pence more than UP. Plus 2 freebies . Stuck it on a couple of tracks and worked well.
