I am trying to find FA06 ins file - I used to have one, but I only have the cubase version(txt) - anymore.

I tried renaming the cubase one (.txt) to (.ins) and it said it did not contain any instrument definitions. Does anyone have it, because I need it.

I also tried to use GPT and googled for 1hr on how to make one from the cubase list - GPT kept generating bad definitions.

You used to be able to download it from roland clan(fan site) -- but I can't find one anymore, and it will be far too much work to manually make one by hand - like we used to do in the old days. Also cakewalk used to have fa06 definition files built it - I also can't find this anymore.

Thanks,
A Political Boy

Assuming you are talking about a Roland product in their FA line, I looked in my Roland.ins files and didn't see any *.ins files for any in the FA series. Not sure if it was ever "built in." Evidently it wasn't supplied in any of the Cakewalk Instrument Definition Files I downloaded.  Maybe another user has one.

Thank you, someone on Roland Clan had it. I had it downloaded and lost it. They said I could rename the ins file to .txt and it would work with cubase and it did, but for some reason, naming it back to ins does not work, so I have no idea why he had it saved as INS if it was not even formatted correctly? He also said - that Cakewalk did come with integra7 definitions, but iirc, he also said the roland FA-06 ins definitions were available. I've scoured rolandclan and I cannot find it for the life of me. I also forgot my account password and they will not send me a password reset email, nor will they let me create a new account - the creation process happens, but I never get a verify your email - email in my gmail inbox.

I am not familiar with the newer products; My most recent Rolands are from the 1990s. Maybe you know: Is the FA-06 in any way related to the Fantom line?  I ask because I do have two files for the Roland Fantom XR: Roland Fantom XR.ins and a separate one called Roland Fantom XR Drum Kits.ins. Not sure where I got them from.

Below are the initial file comments for the first file.

Quote

; ----------------------------------------------------------------------
;       Roland Fantom XR Instrument Definitions (PATCH)
; ----------------------------------------------------------------------
; for Sample Tools Expansion V2 (I-bank), 256 Card & 256 GM patches
; ----------------------------------------------------------------------

; Including some of the "XV-5080 patches for Fantom X" from the official Roland site
; http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=590
;
; Including all sounds from the following SRX cards:

; SRX-03 Studio SRX
; SRX-06 Complete Orchestra
; SRX-07 Ultimate Keys
; SRX-11 Complete Piano
;
; For all non-GM sounds, a unique searchable instrument type information has been
; added to all patch names. This makes it possible to use the patch browser
; when selecting sounds. Enter the instrument type (PIANO:, EPNO:, BASS:) and
; all sounds of this type will be shown. You can then sort on patch number and/or
; bank number etc. to get the patches sorted like you want it.

I think there still is a Roland FA-06 instrument file on the Roland Clan forum. Have a look at this post from 2015. At the very bottom of that post there is a link to a .rar file which is said to contain the final version of the FA-06 .ins files. Good luck.
