Michael Richards
This might have been the case forever, but I hope that it won't happen for perpetuity. I had to move some wires around, since I am in nomad mode, and disconnected my RME. When I reconnected it the audio tracks lost their correct input and reverted back to track 1. Is there already a way for me to keep this from happening? Also, in Preferences I have UCX II Midi Port 1 selected but it always defaults to All Inputs. Can this be fixed? David Baay
The project should have come back up with the correct assignements after the connection was restored unless you re-saved it with the incorrect assignments. The input assignment of a new MIDI/Instrument track should remain None unless you have Alway Echo Current MIDI Track enabled in which case it will show 'Omni' when focused and switch back to None when note focused. But if you manually enable Input Echo without first assigning a port, it will default to All Inputs and stay that way; it's not possible to assign a default. Bass Guitar
What I have found is you need to always make sure your interface is connected and active in Windows before you open Sonar. Otherwise that project will forget everything you set up. When I do multitrack live recording I set all my inputs up at home and save the empty projects. This normally involves 14 audio tracks and 1 midi track. As long as I have the interface running before I open Sonar it always has all the correct inputs set up.

It's not so much that the project "forgets" as that it simply can't restore an I/O assignment for a port that's doesn't have a driver loaded in the operating system; "Connected" assumes powered up with the driver successfully loaded. Michael Richards Posted yesterday at 05:45 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:45 PM I have been using Cakewalk since the early 1990s. I used to have a Roland firewire interface. I never lost the I/O connections. Of course my RME is running before I start up the sleeping Win 11 computer. At some point in time after restoring from sleep I have been losing the input assignments. Today, the audio connections all retained their correct inputs. But all the Midi tracks reverted from UCX II Midi Port 1 to All External Inputs.
