BFD 3.5 Released

Does anyone know if the Player version has also been updated to 3.5?  I want to see how the plugin performs on my system before buying.

The reason I ask is that I just downloaded it and the name of the file is "BFD Player - Software 1.2.1.1 & Core Library 1.0.0.10" suggesting that's it's a much older version.

The BFD player is a completely different beast. It was released October 2023 for free. It does not support BFD 3 expansions but has its own eco system (https://www.bfddrums.com/bfd-player-expansions/). So it will not show you how well BFD 3.5 would work on your system.

Well this update is a real PITA. After jumping through several hoops, despite migrating settings it needs content locations to be added manually and everything to be rescanned which took an age.  It seems to be working OK once installed but I have not given it an extensive test.  90% of my drum work is in Toontrack these days and I don't see much to tempt me back to using BFD more.

The fact that the BFD 3.5 update is free for all BFD3 owners makes me delighted; it's a great offer.
I think my drum arsenal is excellent now that the latest AD Drums 2update  is also available for free.

I have avoided  Toontrack since the upgrade fiasco.

FWIW, the process was smooth, quick, and quite painless here. In the InMusic app, I simply activated each of the kit licenses I own, then installed BFD3 - the information says it is huge but it actually downloaded super fast. Once downloaded & installed, I opened the program, went to preferences, added my content location, it scanned, and was immediately available to play.

However, this seemed a bit odd and something I hadn't seen before:

I didn't find a way to change content locations in the Inmusic installer. It overwhelmed my C drive and I had to give up on installing the core library.

edit: the settings menu is under account at the top right corner. The downloads folder is selectable there.

Decided to jump on this with the offer on, and got to say i'm really impressed with the sound and flexibility with it.  Anyone on the fence should really consider it.

Not tried it with my electronic drum kit yet, but hoping it's going to integrate ok.

I still have the last FXpansion BFD 3  loaded on one of my computers . I  believe it’s 3.3. Doesn’t work quite as seamlessly as Toontrack stuff, but there’s some great organic drum sounds in it.
