Request for Urgent Help - Sonar X1 Producer

SUMIT SIMLAI

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have an email from Support in response to my request to allow me re-download Sonar X1 Producer, as some files are corrupted. I have been advised to make an open contact here for someone to help with link. My email is sumit.simlai@outlook.com. Would greatly appreciate help in this matter.

A copy of my registered apps is attached. Support tells me I have perhaps not registered on SSO in 2017. I can't remember that but yes I did download the product which would mean I did what was required, to be able to download. Some files have gone missing and some corrupted as can be seen from screenshot.

@SUMIT SIMLAI two things to consider.

1. SONAR X1 Producer is not a Bandlab product. Bandlab Technologies did not buy any aspect of Cakewalk Inc, only the th IP of the code base, no products, no responsibility or liability to existing products or customers.

2. It stopped being supported by its owner, Gibson, in November 2017 when they dropped the whole Cakewalk Product line.

You should be able to login to your old Cakewalk account and download all the required files. If you cannot remember your old username and password try contacting support@cakewalk.com, providing proof of ownership etc, they may be able to help you

Don't forget:

3. BandLab offer the Cakewalk by BandLab version of SONAR for free, and it has more than 10 years of improvements over SONAR X1 in the form of features and bug fixes.

4. BandLab also offer the current up-to-date and supported Sonar as part of BandLab membership.

That’s nice to hear.  Unfortunately I am on an old Windows platform Win 7 and old audio interface not compatible with Windows 10.

(1) I would never post my registration codes and serial numbers in a public forum.  You might want to rethink that.

(2) If you have your account name and password, you should be able to log in to the legacy site and re-download the SONAR X1 Producer files.  I just checked (from my account) and they are there.

(3) If you don't have your account name / password, follow this advice:

Hi

Thanks for your advice. Yes that email that I received was from support@cakewalk.com, asking me to connect this forum. See screenshot of that attached. My original email address registered with cakewalk is no longer in use. Hence the problem. I’m at a total loss about what to do.

If you know what you old email was provide support@cakewalk.com with that they may be able to assist.

Yes, please avoid this in the future, I removed that from the post.

Bearing in mind that X1 is rather long in the tooth... PM sent.

All tried and failed. They simply want to avoid. The last email states that they have no record of the past.

As I noted, you are talking of a product that was pre Roland ownership, from the year 2000. It is not surprising that they have no record, Cakewalk Inc was purchased by Roland, then sold to Gibson, who then dumped the product.

Fortunately someone picked up the Intellectual property rights to the code, along with someone else, rescuing as much history as possible.

Why not try Cakewalk by Bandlab any historic projects you have will open in it. The interface has changed but the basic paradigm is the same.

There's no point trying to communicate with staff here as they don't have time to read most of this stuff.

If he PM'd you that is how you now communicate with him. They will sort out you problem even though technically it's not their problem. That company is long gone. There just nice guys.

You should forget that POS X1 anyhow, possibly the most bug infested version of Sonar ever! Just install CbB Last time I checked it still runs on W7. At least I have it on an old laptop here somewhere.

Although not officially supported on Windows 7, Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB) works fine on Windows 7 (64 bit only).

You'll get a warning message when installing, but beyond that it should work fine.

We don't support Windows 7 since Microsoft has stopped support on it.   Given that development has essentially stopped on CbB, it's unlikely that CbB will stop working on Windows 7.

CbB is a vast improvement over SONAR X1.  There are literally thousands of bug fixes and many new features.

Don't uninstall SONAR X1 though - you'll want CbB to migrate all of your settings and take advantage of all the shipped 3rd party products you got with SONAR X1.
