Clock problems

Lately I have been getting some problems with the Clock. My system is this:

Roland Integra 7-connected to PC via USB and also using analog outputs to Scarlett.

TC-Helicon connected to Scarlett via S/PDIF in out

Focusrite Scarlett 18i16 connect also to PC via USB and Monitors via TRS Cables

AKAI MPK261 connected to Integra 7 via MIDI In/Out and to PC via USB

Up to yesterday, I had no problems when playback or record was used. No delays-latency. Suddenly I have hiccups while playing back a midi-recording playing directly 12 channels assigned to the Integra 7. I know it's a sync-clock issue. I have everything 44.100. When I go into preferences/project/clock, I click on Internal and hit apply and everything plays normally as it should. But when I stop and restart, it starts the hiccups unless I go back in the preferences/project/clock and hit internal again that seems to constantly go back to Audio. Has anybody have any clue what is happening and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

OK, so I solved the problem after searching through the forum. Even though it stopped my problem, the issue I believe is in the software. Up to yesterday, I had the audio metronome ticks and never had a problem. But yesterday it decided to protest I guess. I wonder if this will happen if I start a new project.. Just use a midi note instead for the metronome even though it means that one channel from the Integra 7 will be occupied by the tick notes and the Drums...Once again, with my Sonar Platinum, I never had this problem...

Just a guess because I have only used midi sync But possibly you need to make sure all the boxes show the same device. In the Audio settings the timing master and in sync and Caching as well.

Thanks for that, but I have everything the same...I never touched those settings.

If I'm doing MIDI only recording/playback - and by that I mean hardware only MIDI, i.e. no software synths, I always insert a blank audio track in the project.

This allows Sonar/CbB's clock sync to work correctly using Audio as the source, which is often far more reliable than Internal.

You can always hide the audio track if it bothers you being there.

Internal (a.k.a. PC Clock) can only work for pure MIDI projects that have no audio, plugins or even the audio metronome. If any of those are present in the project, Sonar is automatically going to switch the clock to Audio and use the sample clock of the Scarlett as it should. This is highly preferred.

This is also a non-standard configuration when using a DAW. You should only connect the controller to the PC via USB MIDI and use tracks in the project to  echo MIDI from the keyboard to the Integra via its USB-MIDI. Or you can connect one or the other to the PC via MIDI DIN ports on the Scarlett, but not both DIN and USB.
