Hi all

I want to fade a piano solo out at the end of the track; I've diligently tried both methods, i.e. smart tool and drag to the fade point, or click on process effects and used fade out both linear and exponential; all to no avail it makes no difference to the volume at all. Clearly doing something wrong here??

Is it possible this clip has Region FX on it ? Try selecting the clip, then using "Bounce to clips". Then try your fade.

You can also use Automation if you cant figure out why a normal fade wont apply.

Recorded audio, frozen synth audio, bounced synth audio or MIDI? If some sort of audio, make sure the track you're fading is the one you're listening too. If MIDI,  you'll either need to render it to audio first or use a MIDI Volume or Velocity automation.

EDIT: Or automate volume on the Master bus, which will work regardless of the source, and is SOP when fading a full mix.

Once in a while I run into what I call a "dead track"..... the audio is there, or the midi data is there, but it either won't play back, or won't allow mute, solo, etc, or you cannot fade or any automation.... so what I do is create a new audio/midi track, then drag the wave, or midi data to the new track and it all works again. Might not be your problem, but it might be. Hope this helps.
