David Bunting
CW has been working great until last week. I was working on a project and added a new plugin to some vocal tracks and my PC started having big audio dropouts/stutters. Assuming it was my RAM, I closed the software and tried a relaunch (which corrects to a degree most of the time). Upon relaunching, my computer froze and needed a hard reboot. I tried relaunching the CW project in safe mode to disable one or all of the plugins and same result. It crashes on the last step of the project load. I tried loading other projects and even creating a new, basic project and I get the same result with a freeze and a hard reboot required. I started a tech support ticket and was told to upgrade the software and send dump files which I did. Didn't work. I was told to update the Microsoft C++ software which I did. Didn't work. I rebooted my PC (Windows 10) in safe mode and launched the CW project in safe mode and it loaded with no plugins. So it seems that there's something else trying to load in CW that is causing the problem. I've checked drivers and did a registry cleanup but nothing has worked so far. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Intel i7-4790K Quad Core CPU 32GB RAM Windows
Sock Monkey
I just went through a similar situation with Sonar. What I had to do was using safe mode try different plug ins until it crashed again. Then I excluded the 2 culprits saved the project and now all is good.

I actually have excluded the last plugin I used and it didn't seem to fix the problem. In your case, was it the last plugin you used or one that had been in the project for some time and working? Sock Monkey
They were actually very old plug ins in a weird way. Both showed up when opening with safe mode as Untitled EQ and the Untitled CA2A. The project was originally started in Sonar 8.5. So no pro channel. This seems to cause problems because Sonar opens and the Gloss EQ is missing from 1 track and 2 Buses. The CA2A was possibly on the vocal track but it would have been the original version which people say can cause problems. So for once not a funky 3rd party plug in but an internal issue with Sonar trying to open an old project. What I did was first excluded all instruments and effects. No crash. I saved this as a midi file ( no audio in this project) Then I only loaded the instruments no crash. Renamed and saved as CWP. Then one by one loaded the effects and this eventually revealed the 2 that would crash. Excluded those and project has been stable since.
