PVR Broken ( FIXED)

Recommended Posts

Today I opened the PVR to edit a midi track I just recorded. It seems the grid resolution is broken. In track view it follows the snap settings. In PVR none of the grid resolution setting work anymore. It is stuck on 1/4 note. I tried all settings. I even told it to follow snap. I opened a few projects and they all behave the same. I switched to Mercury here just to take the screenshot.  Man I hate the choices it's either blindingly white or gloomy dark.

This is a fresh install and I'm still fighting with it after 2 weeks! Can anybody reproduce this?

'Show Vertical Gridlines' is unchecked so you're only getting the default beat lines.  PRV View settings are per project/template.

Duh!   Thanks David,  I new it was me!   This really sucks that 15 years of custom preferences got flushed. If support tells you you need a clean install do yourself a favour and ignore them.  I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure this out, I even restarted my computer. Man is Sonar complicated. Things can be right under your nose and you don't see them!

If Cakewalk support ever asks me to do a clean install of Cakewalk (which has happened to me), I see if I can find another PC to do so.

I have way too many custom Cakewalk settings that I have no desire to recreate.

I'm pretty sure that option is enabled by default in all of the bundled  templates. And the fact that it wasn't in this case was inherited from a custom template or a workspace.

That might be what happened. I don't use Project templates but I have been tweaking my one screen workspace. I've only been opening old projects just to save them as Midi files, I haven't really used Sonar for anything else.  I probably opened an older project, made some change to the workspace and saved it. That project just might have had that disabled.

This was a quick idea I had and I used the default Basic Template.

But after I recorded the Midi I needed to open the PVR so I then needed the second monitor. So I floated the multi dock and then saved a new workspace as "2 screens."   That would explain opening other projects being the same. So seems this setting is saved with a Workspace, not per project.
