So do i.

But what i said was a warning that the Magix driver will get installed, you like it or not. Took me 30mn to get rid of mentions of it in the Registry.

Other DAWs do this as well.  Anytime I install DAW software the next step is go to Preferences and select the audio.

Those drivers are for Windows laptop users who don't use an audio interface.  They are much better than Asio4All. 

Most of the audio software no matter how advanced it is always has the beginner in mind.

The ones I've seen are just reskinned versions of ASIO4All.

When I want what ASIO4ALL does (which is when using Ableton Live on my laptop without the PreSonus), I use ASIO2WASAPI.

This Humble Bundle is excellent news! My greatest fear about the MAGIX insolvency was that it meant the end of my biennial HB upgrades to Vegas Pro Edit and Sound Forge.

Since my version of Vegas is the one just before they added VST3 support, I've had to maintain a separate VSTVegas folder for the audio plug-ins I want to use with Vegas.

Steinberg products, Fruity Loops (along with Magix)  ………….. and no. They’re not better. They just take less long to get out of the registry 😜

I use Vegas for video editing - most of my work is combining iPhone camera footage from band members cameras with a front on camera and the mixed down track from Cakewalk. I was on 19 from the last bundle which had added multi-camera features that made the workflow much better. Not sure what's in 21 but for $30 since it's my video editor I'm in.

To me, easily worth the price of a party size pizza to gain support for VST3 audio plug-ins. I'm sure there's a bunch of other stuff that I may never get around to using....

Maybe someone can help me with this as I've been "stung" before because of Magix's naming conventions for their video editors.  I have - and use - Movie Studio 16 Platinum which seems to me to be the reincarnation of VEGAS.  I also bought Movie Studio 18 and 22 at various times (good deals) but they seem to be a dumbed down UI and application, so I don't use them (and have uninstalled them apart from the extra plug-ins they came with).

Which "family" is Movie Studio 24 a member of?  What about VEGAS Pro Edit 21?

Movie Studio is not in the Same family as Vegas

Magix has multiple Video editors

 

Movie Studio - budget friendly but with a modern interface

Video Pro X  - same type of interface as Movie Studio (but more professional grade feature set)

VEGAS Pro - has different editions but is a different video editing package that was created a long time ago and then bought by Magix and they continue to update it.

It used to be that Movie Studio (I think it was even called Vegas Movie Studio at that point) was a simplified version of Vegas Pro. Similar to the relationship between SONAR Professional and SONAR Home Studio. They shared the same code base.

Then a few years after the MAGIX acquisition, the "Movie Studio" product became a simplified version of MAGIX Video Pro X.

So to answer your question, Movie Studio 24 of today is part of the Video Pro X family, and Vegas Pro Edit 21 is a more recent version of the product line you're more familiar with, the Vegas Pro/Vegas Movie Studio family.

Vegas Pro until v. 22 was split into 3 different tiers that differed in bundled effects and some advanced features. Vegas Pro Edit was the leanest. Again for comparison, Vegas Pro Edit would be the SONAR Professional vs. Vegas Pro Suite's SONAR Platinum.

If you want to be more up to date with the software you're already familiar with, Vegas Pro Edit is the one to go with. If you get the bundle, it will also come with a license for Movie Studio, which may be worth a look just to see if you like it. I still prefer Vegas Pro Edit. There's no reason to switch. MAGIX' team seem to be doing a decent job of making it less crashy. It used to crash and hang rather frequently, and Vegas Movie Studio was more stable for me, so I used to install both of them and fall back to Movie Studio if Vegas Pro choked too often on a project.

Stability hasn't improved as much as Cakewalk/Sonar has over the same period, but it has improved. It looks better, too, there's an optional dark theme that I like.

Vegas Pro seems to have a nice following, perhaps thanks to its appearance in these Humble Bundles in recent years, so YouTube tutorials are plentiful.
