No need to comment on the issue if you don't have any suggestions for a solution. You've been given the answer. You can take advantage of the advice of those who know and have experience or you can ignore it and keep fighting reality. Your choice.

Though, if Cakewalk cannot function without external audio hardware, perhaps it should be listed as required, not recommended. You're right. Way back when, to get the best audio performance possible, an audio interface with ASIO driver was almost required. Not that the stock sound cards couldn't record and play back, it was to get the latency as low as they could to make it easier to record audio to an audio track of soft synth track. That was/is the goal of all interface manufacturers and software developers. Computers are much better now, faster, stronger and able to leap tall buildings... Oh wait. Microsoft's development of their WASAPI driver has made even the lowly RealTek a contender. Of course, it has the be set up. I also am a hobbyist, you've never heard any of my songs in a movie or TV show. I just record for me and friends and family because recording is something I've wanted to do since the 1960's when me and my brother would record on 2 cassette decks and a reel-to-reel deck to "overdub" ourselves singing and playing guitars. Can you show us some screen shots of your preferences (P) for audio?
