TheSteven Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Let's see... In May 2023 I purchased Komplete 14 Collectors Edition Update Download for $ 225.41 and it included the Plugin Alliance Komplete 14 Collectors Editions PA Bundle which they claim had an MSRP of $ 2,043 Today - for my Komplete 15 Collectors Edition Update (no PA Bundle this time) NI is asking $499. So for $273.59 more I get $2,043 less product... Wow, the only thing that could make this more attractive to me would be if this was a subscription. I think I'll wait till summer (when I usually buy Komplete anyway) and see if the offerings are a little more wallet friendly. Edited December 7, 2024 by TheSteven 3 1 3
Canopus Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I try to only update every fourth version or so of Komplete, like going from K10U to K14U. True, that way I won’t get a megazillion of new Expansions each year, but I couldn't care less. It saves me a lot of money. The only exception was back in 2019 when I purchased an upgrade from K10U to K12CE. The reason being there were indications at that time NI was considering going subscription. As software subscriptions are a definite no-no for me, I decided to get the latest and greatest as a perpetual license while it was still possible. Thankfully, I was later proved wrong; NI came to their senses. 1

But as the update price difference/jump is so high this time I thought it was me misunderstanding ... 😁 Crazy price inflation! No way! 🤪 1
JT music Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Well, we already know about NI's disastrous commercial practice, I only communicate the supposed offer even though my policy or staff prevents me from buying any NI product since their paid upgrade policy becomes the art of scamming the customer at any time. 1

Ah... a big fat no. I'll consider it at $299. But even at $249 which it starts being more compelling, I'd really have to look at what new stuff comes with it though. Izotope is also not compelling for me anymore since the buy out. They just offer no compelling upgrade path for me even though I own almost everything from both companies as well as most of the plugin-alliance catalog. There's zero loyalty bonus for owning most of it all already. It's really a sad marketing strategy. Trying to easily find where to see what's new for me since 14UCE. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-15-collectors-edition/compare/ Community maintained spreadsheet comparing versions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FuwkqEc7CqMwjRVjgcy2KhJlkVl3jTT3Ze1RsVFvzC4/edit?gid=427928755#gid=427928755 Edited December 10, 2024 by Rational 3
hockeyjx Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I've been debating upgrading K14U to K15U, and the same as most, I don't see what I'd be paying $320 for. 2

projectm Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I stepped on a Lego and upgraded from K12. I needed the Double bass for a project and also wanted Noire for quite some time. Those were $100 more than the upgrade so now I have a heap of Play-series instruments I’ll never install. Always happy to have some more expansions, however.
